Chipotle: "Don't Bring Guns in our Stores"

Open carry advocates have a right to carry rifles, restaurants have a right to ask people not to bring firearms onto their property (or outright forbid it) and Moms for Illegal Gun Confiscation in Everytown have a right to wave their arms celebrating their "victory". It would be nice if our side could use a little common sense and see that situations like this are keeping Shannon Watts as a player. Every "victory" she gets allows the media to give her more and more press. If it wasn't for Starbucks, Jack in the Box and Chipotle her group would amount to a few tightly framed camera shots of 20-30 women at protests.

Folks we need to use these things as teachable moments. I have a feeling that because Bloomberg can't get what he wants in Congress he is behind a lot of these campaigns to get stores to ban firearms.

Is anyone aware of any kind of offensive strategy to encourage businesses to ignore the BS (even if they don't actively solicit guns in stores) and not post signage or make public policy against CCW in stores...(Yes I just used a non Massachusetts acronym!)

No force of the Law in MA, so who cares? Carry concealed and be done with it.

I am sure many shop and spend money at places that "prohibit" concealed carry firearms; Any mall, movie theater's, etc. Is it really worth it to boycott everything to make a negligible difference?

Just playing devils advocate..

Yeah, concealed means concealed, but I'll probably stop buying their burritos if they do say it is a BAN.

Chipotle is now and has always been a supporter of so-called progressive ideology and movements. Personally I think their food is over-rated, so I don't eat there anyway.

There are so many good burrito joints these days, I don't feel the need to go to one that violates my conscience.

"if" i ever needed to go into a chipotle in the future(which I do not see ) i wouldnt care what their sign said.

Meh, who cares what their policy is? It holds no weight. If you carry concealed and really need a sodium blast bomb (thier burrito) then go and get yourself one. What's the worst that can happen? They refuse your service? Call the cops and get you trespassed? That is if you are still there when the cops arrive....I guess we can really thank those rifle toting fools in the first place for pushing too hard.

I understand the open bigotry aspect of the argument especially as it relates to 2A but as a private business they can do as they choose. I wonder if they would refuse my service if I wore an "offensive" T shirt? You know like "Hillary lied while SEALS died" or the like? No one puts signs on their doors about speech...or how's about "no (enter religion here) allowed"

The problem is that grabbers and liberals and yuppies and trash will still spend their $ there. It would be GREAT in an ironic way if a bunch of those stores were robbed...in daylight...by an armed criminal(s)...with no one there to interceded...I can fantasize can't i?

I know I'll get a lot of flack for this, but I don't give a shit anymore. Open carry protests are just ****ing stupid. The success of pro 2A activism is actually winning more hearts and minds than the dried up whores at MDA can tolerate, we are beating them at every turn for the simple fact that in the United States, we really HATE being told what to do, even more when they tell us what to THINK.

That said, we have to realize that no matter what, some people are afraid of guns and its an obstacle no amount of education, no matter how well intended, is going to overcome. We get way further by calmly reciting facts to the masses of red faced bullies, and yeah, I am referring to mothers with children, than we do by showing off our hardware as if its a fashion statement.

These are the types of places where I love to show up and stand in line....while wearing my NRA "STAND AND FIGHT" hat, my "GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA" shirt, and some camo tactical pants....with my SW442 in my right pocket and my G26, strapped to my ankle....

I carry EVERYWHERE. Cuz criminals and psychos can strike anywhere, anytime.

And the last time I ate at Chipotle I had the squirts for three days afterward....Their Burrito Bowls have killed more humans (and probably seagulls who eat the discarded slop) than all of my guns have.

There's a Chipotle two minutes from my home. They can call me when some whack job shows up and decides to rob and kill everyone in their gun-free zone. If I ever DID decide to respond to their pleas for help and mercy, I'd probably get there quicker than the boys from 911. But I'd just let the phone ring, cuz THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED, RIGHT? A DISARMED CITIZENRY, BEGGING FOR THEIR LIVES at the mercy of bad people who don't respect laws or human life.

Besides, if I did happen upon a robbery and killing in progress, I'd turn and walk to the next store, cuz THIS IS WHAT CHIPOTLE WANTS, RIGHT? Because even if I did save lives by engaging and taking down a perp, I'd be up on manslaughter or murder charges in this upside down, liberal socialist commie state, have my firearms confiscated at my home, my "LTC-A, No Restrictions" pulled and "held" by the local chief while they decide what/if any charges will be filed against ME, sued civilly by the young Massachusetts scumballs family, since I rudely and mean-spiritedly ended his journey of "just getting his life back together", and my life would be in the sh*tter for the next few years...(much like the innocent civilians who unfortunately decide to try a Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla on any given day).

A couple of meth-infused psychos, who can barely even READ your "this is a Gun Free Zone" sign in the window, can walk into a quiet place like that and just decide to randomly kill people, for the thrill. Just like the Hollywood movies.
"5 dead, 11 wounded as robbery turns violent at gun-free _____(fill in the blank)..." etc etc.

This is what YOU want, Chipotle, Starbucks, Bloomberg, and all the Anti's.

This is what you want.

I agree with you here, but keep in mind that not every dude you see open carrying a gun is doing it in protest, or for attention. Sometimes I wear my work boots, sometimes I wear my sneakers, know what I mean?

Well, the texans fudged that one up. I get that it's their right and yada yada. Still weird as **** to go to a restaurant with an AR slung to your back. They made a point alright. Now, Chipotle made a point as well. I'm a fan of the 2A, but I honestly think that going to a restaurant open carrying a long gun makes you look like an imbecile.

I hear you, I actually HEAR you, dude. I was in AZ a few months back and at a starbucks, before all the shit happened with their "ban." There were 3 guys in there ordering lattes, all strapped. It really phased nobody, myself included -- until one of them dropped his M1A on the floor, screwing up his scope.

It freaked a few people out - they thought it was going to go off - again, uneducated people who could have been better educated with a trip to the range. I just see that as creating a lost opportunity.

Rant 9/10

Has anyone found a link to the actual press release?

All the news stories make partial quotes. I don't trust them.

For all I know MomsDemand spoofed a statement and everyone else is quoting each other.

I spent 15 mins looking for the original. Maybe my google-fu is just weak today.

There appears to be no Chipotle press release containing the word gun or rifle. (Gun does appear as part of a band name and the word "begun")

THAT said, they are fricking restaurant. They want to sell food and couldn't care less about us or our views. They want the contents of our wallets, for which they give us an approximation of Mexican cuisine.

Likewise, I don't give a damn how they feel about my interest in guns, classic cars or sci fi. I just want my chimichanga.

The PLACE to hold a demonstration is where it will affect those that that are proactively working AGAINST us, such as in front of the State House last April.

1. Order a meal at Chipolte
2. At the cashier station, smile, say you don't want the meal after all, ask them to give an envelope to the Manager, and walk out
- Letter to the Manager: Chipolte corporate has asked gun owners not to carry guns in Chipolte stores. I, as a gun owner, will not pay for food at Chipolte stores. Please ask Chipolte corporate to withdraw statements made regarding this matter.

pretty sure their thought process was "if we open carry our rifles everywhere, because its all we can legally open carry, they are bound to see how much better it would be if we could open carry handguns"

not saying it makes sense but thats all I can think of
