Sometimes I would rather they gouge, ie if you really want something relatively cheap like an AR lower during a crisis run on the stuff, tripling the price might stop the hoarding while still allowing the folks who really want one to buy it.

My only issue with price gouging is it preys on the retarded, who simply don't know better - ie in our situation a new gun owner unaware that a Taurus G2 is worth $250 on it's best day and not $700 or something.. but I question the concept of legislating it, especially in the information age where people can easily identify a fair price.
In the end stuff is worth what people are willing to pay and in the long run gouging gets remembered and its not good for business.
If the vendor sees the 30 cases left of 5.56 as the last they can get & sell for months I argue it is worth whatever they can get. Or the same for that 2000 gallons of gasoline.
I'm not sure I have ever bought anything from cheaper than dirt - just generally they are never the best deal.
Yup. I made light of the moment to the chagrin of the mods but I still had that one moment of fun.Seems NES had a few whiners reporting "price gouging" in the NES Classifieds, to the Admin? To the point a Mod had to post a notice to stop reporting it?
This, they were ok 15 yrs ago but basically fell off the bus even before they stopped shipping to MA.Why do people buy from CTD anyways? The company is awful.

state government enact anti gouging laws so that in times of hurricanes blizzards and Kung flu people are not unfairly cheated b6 unscrupulous vendors.
It also assures that people face situations like not being able to buy generators at $800 instead of being able to buy them for $1600. Some of these price gouging laws go so far as to prevent people from entering the market, or incurring arbitrage overhead, because profit becomes a dirty word and it is better to let people go without that let someone make money off a disaster.Supply and demand would certainly dictate a higher price based on increased demand on an existing supply. (At least until sellers can get resupplied. )
Price gouging is when certain sellers take advantage of a short term situation when people are frightened and charge $1000 for a case of ammunition that is normally $295, but others are now selling for $350, $400 or maybe $500. The $1000 case at cheaper than dirt is gouging. state government enact anti gouging laws so that in times of hurricanes blizzards and Kung flu people are not unfairly cheated b6 unscrupulous vendors.
But "gouging" prices are caused by people who are already prepared, rushing to buy everything they can, just in case.“Gouging” is what happens to people that are unprepared.
If you're a regular recreational or competitive shooter looking to resupply, now is a good time to stop shooting for a while.
They did the same when Obama was elected. And more than once during his presidency when there was a mass shooting.View attachment 339505
Eight hundred bucks for a case of Blazer aluminum.
When every single gun store starts charging $800 for a case of 9mm, I will understand. So all the people saying price gouging, will you sell me gold ou bought years ago at $100oz, or will you sell it for market rate ?
Stop being hypocrites.
If you go back to the beginning of the Corona Virus thread, myself and a few others were buying things as early as January and beginning of February, while a lot of NES members were giving us sh*t. I even got sh*t for buying food I would eventually consume, so all I was doing was spending the money earlier. That's around the time DENCH said he would eat sh*t.Usually anti gouging laws is for shit like water, gasoline, food, etc, or things more like that. Ammo fit that? maybe.
IMHO whining about price gouging is generally stupid though. It's better to just shut up and not pay it. Or buy as little of it
as you need to get by until the market gets less retarded.
Also WRT hurricane, blizzards, and kung flu... most people don't live in a cave. They usually get enough warning, but wait until the last minute. We're talking days here, not a couple of hours. There are litterally no excuses with this one. I bought 3000 rounds of 9mm a week before things went full retard, at 8-9 bucks a box. Even 2-3 weeks before this the "signs" were starting to show that it was a good idea to buy. If someone who is sometimes slow on the uptake, like myself can smell "bad shit coming" because wuhan chinaflu, then I have a hard time feeling bad for those complaining.

No, its not, considering I was just at a place an hour ago that was selling it for like $14/box today and there was a few thousand rounds there on the shelf. There's legit cost adjustments for real supply issues and then there's rape. CTD is full cosby on a lot of shit even when there's no corona. I would find it hard to believe they actually sold much at that price. Then again lots of people are lazy/dumb so if they can sell it for that, good for them. I have witnessed these numbskulls myself seeing people pay $76 for a brick of 600 .22LR during obamascare 2...It's a choice - have 9x19 Blaze AL available at $39/box or have it not available at $9.
Ooops. CTD is all out. Guess $39 was a fair market price after all.
It is also possible that the price was the result of software that looked at purchasing patterns, competitors, etc. and dynamically adjusted the price. You are correct - there is a good chance the price was found to be too high and came down. I remember a case when two vendors set their algorithm to something like 5% above the other guys price, with no limit and the price for a small product (might have been a book) rose beyond any reason. No, its not, considering I was just at a place an hour ago that was selling it for like $14/box today and there was a few thousand rounds there on the shelf.
