Casting help, please

Is there a standard oversize that molds should drop their bullets. What should a .45 cal mold drop using wheel weights? I'm dropping between .4485 and .450. My .357 mold drops at .360-361 with the same alloy.

I think it depends on many things:

type of lead being used (pure will give diff size than wheel-weights)
brand of mold
possibly whether quenched or not

regardless, they should all be consistent

Most molds drop bullets1-2K over sizing dia. I size mine to .452. Wheel weights are pretty much the standard for casting.

I called lyman, and was informed that they have quality control issues. I have to send my molds back to them. Three out of the four I just bought. I of course have to pay to ship it to them. They are however sending me two free molds and " other goodies ". So I will continue to use Lyman products, as long as my replacements are good. Also, Lyman's standard is .0025 oversize.
