Speaking of $1000 uppers, I occasionally see a 50% off sale on a LWRC piston upper, is this a good deal at $900?

Not that it matters, since CDNN wont' ship an upper to Mass for some reason.

My last AR build was going to be a minimum-budget study before I changed the concept. I think I worked out I could build a basic AR for around $450, but that may have included used parts. One hidden cost of building an AR in Mass is the need for a muzzle brake and welding it on.

I think for Black Friday there were fully assembled ARs for $499. I'd probably go with a used M&P Sport if I didn't have any specific requirements for my AR. As it turned out, my build because a sort of quasi-80s target gun and I definitely came out ahead building it, since I made extensive use of sales or used high-end parts.
