Looking at getting a flashlight to keep in my hunting pack. Should I bother with spending money on one of the LED flashlights that have the blue LED "blood tracking" feature? Does that really make the blood trail show up better?

i thought you need the black light to track the blood trail.. not blue light.. 0_o" All you need is a surefire G2 LED .
Yea anything with a blue filter got one at the army navy if you find one of the 90 degree lights that hasn't had the color lenses robbed from it it will work pretty good.
Thats a good tip. The last time I was at wallyworld, they had a Remington branded LED light with a Red or Red/Blue setting advertised as a "blood tracking" light. It has a black anodized aluminum body and takes 3 AAA batteries.....IIRC it was $15.

I've never seen one that worked any better than just a plain light. I have a flashlight with blue and red lenses and I try them almost every year on blood in the woods and I always go back to the white light.
I have tried them all and also go back to a regular white light. I use a Surefire Backup, great little light with 2 brightness settings. I find it harder to use a LED light the bluish tint to the LED's seems to make it harder for me to find blood.
A Coleman lantern makes blood stand out like a halogen light.
