ATF New "White Paper" interesting reading!

Yup. In order of "difficulty to change", we have:- The Constitution - Nearly impossible to change, and hasn't been attempted for anything in decades.

While nearly impossible to change, certain parts almost always ignored, especially the word "infringed".

Next time some Snowflake claims that nobody uses so called "Assault Weapons" for sporting or hunting, we can now provide this quote direct from the ATF:

1. don't provide quotes or argue with mentally ill people.

2. the only hunting important for 2a is when two legged animals are concerned.

Right but if they are being used often for hunting, that would be "In common use". Remember that the SCOTUS determined that the second covers firearms in common use.

(2) Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms. Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons. Pp. 54–56.

It is.

If for a small fraction of subsecond you can imagine that to bee true it would an awfully scary and yet liberating experience. For 99% of human history it was exactly that.

Decisions aren't perfect, and you don't have to agree with the whole thing to see that as far as the earlier quote is concerned having official sources talking about how these types of firearms are in common use helps us in attacking the ban on said firearms.

I will be the first to say that we should absolutely have the right to carry whatever we want whenever we want in whatever way we want, but reality is that we have to fight the nonsense that currently is law here, and attacking the laws based on previous SCOTUS decisions is a potential step in that direction.
