A chicken sandwich worth fighting for

Just here in my town in NC, we have a Bojangle's, a KFC, a Chick Fil-A, a Zaxby's (look it up), BK, McDonald's, Hardee's, Wendy's, Sonic, and a dozen or more local places that sell chicken sandwiches. There's a Cookout restaurant coming soon. Hell even the IHOP and Waffle House have chicken sandwiches. You can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting a place that sells burgers or chicken sandwiches, fries, and a shake. I'm surprised Five Guys doesn't have a chicken sandwich (yet). Good for them for sticking to what they do well (burgers), I suppose.

We actually don't have a Popeye's, which is weird. There's one in New Bern and in Jacksonville, each a half-hour away.

They're all good in their own way, I suppose. For me, I'm a hold the mayo guy. And for that I give Chick Fil-A the nod. Their standard is "no mayo" so I don't have to ask to have them hold it. Nothing worse than getting a mile away from the drive-thru and biting into a sandwich with gobs of mayo, all because someone can't listen.
Every time I go back to NC, my first stop is Bojangles. Cajun fillet biscuit combo with seasoned fries and sweet tea. Tastes like heaven.

I have never seen a Popeye's before other than at the rest area in Maine, just lined up sitting under a heat lamp. Nothing about that seemed very appetizing to me.

Yet I'm the bad guy for eating at a Chick-Fil-A.

Nothing to see here... just another day in America...

"America reels from national shortage of Popeyes chicken sandwich

You might have heard by now that Popeyes has released a new chicken sandwich. The Takeout has raved about it. Restaurant chains have either boosted or embarrassed themselves by arguing online over it. A large current percentage of your Twitter feed can’t talk about anything else.

Across the United States, Popeyes’ fried chicken sandwich has revealed itself as perhaps the last great cultural unifier, because people all over the country, from all walks of life, are having a hell of a time actually getting their hands on one."

"People Are Freaking Out Over Popeyes Selling Out of Its New Chicken Sandwich

Over the past few weeks, discussion on social media has been dominated by chicken sandwiches. People were comparing different restaurants after Popeyes launched a new sandwich before the discourse devolved into madness. Regardless, Popeyes remained dominant: They reportedly got over $23 million worth of advertising for free off of social media hype alone. But this rise in popularitiy has had an unfortunate side effect for some.

... y’all good? Chick-fil-A, Inc. on Twitter

As Dallas Eater reports, a chicken shortage is looming. A Dallas strip club has even lured patrons to its club by offering free Popeyes sandwiches to anyone who pays the entry fee, a particularly enticing offer as more and more restaurants struggle to keep up with demand.

ETA... just noticed this is in the wrong forum, but it's only a matter of time until
the bullets fly, resulting in more calls for gun control/how could this have been prevented
and I can come back here and say... 'see, I told you so'. [banana]

The problem in your first sentence can be summed up in two words, "rest area". We have a Popeye's a few miles down the road (in town) and they are pretty good.

There is a Chik-Fil-A just past them and their sandwiches are great. It's funny how perceived impressions of some distant figure's religious beliefs can so greatly affect the taste and quality of a local product.
