Mistakenly posted this to general firearms, I think it belongs here.

Anyone know of a shop in central MA that will gauge a Mosin for a few bucks? Don't really want to spend $25 for a no-go gauge that I'll only use once.

50 BMG, thanks for the offer but I'll be running a model rocketry shoot for my sons' cub scout pack on the 29th.

P.M. me your address and I will mail them to you. I am sure you will return them. If not you will need a bigger rocket to get far enough away for me not to find you[laugh][laugh]

You MUST remove the extractor to properly check the head space so soak the bolt head in penetrating oil. You will need a punch and a hammer. If you don't take the extractor off the gauges are useless.

I have the Brownells go/no go gauge and never remember anything about the extractor being pulled. Why does it have to be removed?
