Even more important: don't let slavish belief in one of the two major parties make you an unwitting supporter who puts a liberal Republican in office.

Personally I'm "not allied" I'd vote Pastafarie if they support what's important, and they have a chance at winning. What I won't do is vote for a garentees lose. Instead I'll vote for the least damage or better yet someone I have a chance of changing their mind.

I've see what happens in MA when people support a 3rd party garentees lose, who I would personally prefer, over an R who would do far less damage. Hint, we end up with a D. I'm not handing the majority to the Ds just because I want someone who is more of a libertarian
