Why do people want to see an LTC for a pre-ban mag deal?

Looking at threads for pre-ban mags for sale i see a lot of sellers stating that they want to see your LTC. Why?

Its mostly just to cover themselves. If they are shipping i usually send a picture of it with the license number blacked out. In person and I dont think I've been asked.

Because in MA you need a LTC for everything from a spent shell to an assembled gun and everything in between

I could be wrong but I think it a crime to supply non LTC holders in mass guns,ammo,magazines and such.
you would get asked with a 10 rounder.
Considering the permission slip needed in mass I think its good practice as a buyer to just have it out and ready
