What length handguard do I need for 14.5" barrel?

First build and would appreciate assistance.

Looking to have 14.5" barrel with a pinned muzzle break and a floating handguard, but I am not sure what length does it 'need' to be.

IMO/IME, you can have it as long as you want. Generally speaking you don't want the handguard covering the muzzle device. I'd go for no longer than about 12". Especially with it being free float.

If it is free floated you can use anything out to 12" or possibly a 14" as long as you are using a low profile gas block. So a carbine or mid-length handguard would work fine.

If you're new to ARs, go 12" as is lowers the likelyhood of you grabbing too far out and scorching your hand.

Go with a 13 inch bcm kmr! I have it on my build that has a Noveske 14.5 inch barrel and I think it's perfect.
