what is needed for matches

I am wondering what I would need to bring to a match besides ammo and rifle..... thanks for your help

Sling, mat, spotting scope, pen/pencil for scoring, stool/chair, empty chamber indicator, ear/eye protection, sunscreen, food, water.
Those are the essentials, but there is some other stuff that is convenient to have.

3-gun?

I have never done any firearms shooting comps but (and as lame as it sounds) was on an air rifle marksmanship team in ROTC in HS we used slings while proned out to lessen small movments I would imagine the same principal applies to the 308

I believe you are always using your sling to help your form and develop more contact points with the rifle

For F-Class and F T/R, I guess you wouldn't. For normal Highpower Matches, you would.
