Well, post some military pics.

HEY JH you brought back some memories with that one... I was 7051 at New River during Desert Storm! Were you guys in a P-19 for that or did you have something else?

Good old P-19 haha. i love those bad boys. its always great to meet another 7051. Semper Fi! i work at Westover AFB now doing Fed Fire and we use p-23's and we have one P-19 i love it even though its a crappy Airforce version haha

Okay, new rule. No more reposting of the camel spider picture. I had a bad experience in country, I don't wanna talk about it, and I'm gonna go in a corner and weep now.

.....ALWAYS check your bag before you rack out [laugh].

BTW, speaking as a red leg, 105mm being shot from a plane is about the coolest thing on Earth.

Okay, I promise I won't monopolize the thread, but I'm happy as a clam with the new scanner, and can't resist posting some more pictures. These cover more of the family history from WWII, Korea, and into the 90's.

Nice pics. Thank you for sharing them. Looks like the military is a family business with you also.[wink][laugh]
Always told son that if the kids ever teased him about his mom wearing combat boots he could say"Yes she did."[grin][laugh]
Hubbies side of the family goes way back as far as serving in the military.
My side is my Dad, my brother, and I. All different branches.[laugh]

Chris,

If you'd like me to photoshop out the writing so you have a clean original that you can print out on some photo paper I'd be happy to try and help. Just e-mail me the highest resolution scan you can and I'll do what I can for you!

PM me

Same offer goes out to anyone else with scanned photos with writing, creases, etc. I can't promise any miracles but I'll certainly do my best for you.

I figure it's the least I can do to support all of your efforts!

Here are some pics from parts of my Air Force past. The first one is of the Aviano AB flightline at dusk about May/June 1993.

This is me sitting in a F16 cockpit...I wasn't supposed to be there.

I'm cheesing quickly because I didn't want the crew chief to come around the corner and find me in his bird.

The following are from my retirement. I was medically retired on 27 July 2008 after 17 years, 7 months and 25 days of service. My wife received a spouses award.

Me, my wife and our daughter. I can't believe how heavy I was during that time. I was 235...about 50 pounds overweight. That was before my left hip replacement and since I have lost almost 40 pounds.

The first two are from Setermoen, Norway. I am pretty sure the first pic is an MG42. The second is of the unit we trained with. The third picture is of a Marine from my old unit firing one of the Royal Marines SA80's.

Most of my prints got ruined in a flooded basement. But we used slide film to photograph Soviet military equipment, and I shot the rest of each role so that got me some additional pics that weren't damaged. Circa 1984-1985.

One of the last M60 tanks in the 3rd Infantry Division getting ready to go to the railhead. An M60A3 RISE PASSIVE TTS at our border station in Coburg, in the Franconia region of Bavaria. At the time a Cavalry platoon was 3 M113's, two M901 TOW launchers, and 4 tanks. The unit is 3rd Platoon, A Troop, 3-7 Cav, 3rd ID.

One of the first Bradleys in Europe, either 1-30 or 2-30 Infantry (don't remember).
1178096028_WVNK3-L.jpg

Some of the Squadron's officers would go to the May Day parade in Berlin each year and photograph all the latest and greatest Soviet military hardware they so desperately tried to hide everywhere else. We used this images for vehicle identification and would often take partial shots, not because we were poor photographers but because it was slightly more realistic training for the Soldiers. But here's a full-on T72.
1178106811_Mrcbo-L.jpg

Sometimes we didn't have to go to Berlin for pics. Every once in a while a HIND would fly the border trace. This got everyone excited because only Russians flew them, not East Germans. Wonder if the pilot knew I had four tanks on the backside of the hill....
1178095481_LzJHk-L.jpg

Taking leave was frowned upon by the Squadron Commander. We had to have at least 90% of the Troop's officers on duty at the border: since there were only five officers per troop, unless someone filled in from another Troop no one was going anywhere.

As a result I left Germany with 70 days of terminal leaveut. But we did get a week off once. Skiing in Kitzbuhl, in Austria.

I am on the right, my last time crossing under the Coronado bridge. You throw a weighted hat over board for good luck, if it floats you are doomed to come back and do it again. As you can see, I stole the biggest shackle I could fit in my pocket from the Boatswain's locker.

I guess im lucky today, I scanned this group of pics some of which were condisered classified in their day, circa 1945.

These were handed down to me by a uncle that was stationed around the Mare Island SF area.

ETA: pics were deleted from the photobucket album they were hosted on.

The first few at of the PT boats he was in charge of photographing and the next few are subs and then surface ships. //
Awesome! What is the significance of the circles?

Modification of certain features, as I was told and or repair of battle damage depending on the pic.

That is why the pics were considered classified back in the day (1945), they didn't want the japs or Germans getting a hold of anything that could compromise our security.
