SW1911 Can't get guide rod out!

Any tips on removing the full-length guide rod for a SW1911. The manual just says to pull out and up towards rear of slide but I can't get the damn thing out, it just won't fit past the barrel linkage.

Try taking out the recoil spring first it makes it easier even though the manual does not say to do it.

I have to make sure the barrel link is parallel to the barrel and then jimmy it a bit to get my full length out of my Para P13

Okay I got it, I was trying to take the spring out the back of the slide with the guide rod...

Kim has had all week to play with it, you wait this long and it is up for grabs.
