WTF?

A decorated Stoughton patrolman has resigned from the department after internal affairs investigations found that he left his patrol to meet a stripper billed as "the world's smallest porn star" and that he modified his service pistol by adding a laser-sighting device, the police chief said today.

In the words of John Osterlind...

"Midgets + Anything = Funny"

At first you have to figure the guy really likes midgets, but it could be that he is just really turned off by unsightly knee calluses. That, and he likes lasers.

Maybe the new Chief in Stoughton will change his department to one that the citizens can be proud of?

One can always hope.

In a separate case of misconduct last month, Bennett was spotted by other officers with a laser-sighting device on his .40-caliber Glock semiautomatic service pistol ...

Midgets, Glocks, .40s ... this story has all the elements of great crime fiction. Only it's true

He'll be divorced shortly...
He did loose his job for the "worlds stupidest" reason...
And of course...it was a .40 and I've been told that nothing good comes from that short round.

thats Bridget the midget.

Stoughton PD has stumbled from one personnel crisis to another for at least 40 years that I know of. I'll be SURPRISED if the new chief can change that culture in that department.

He certainly seems to be trying to change the culture there. A few years ago, this sort of thing would have been swept under the rug. I know of a case involving a former officer, theft of wheels off of a towed vehicle, and the subsequent return of those wheels. It was all hushed up by a previous chief, which was the norm then. The PD has had a shady reputation for a long time, but I'm hearing nothing but good things about this chief. I'm just not sure what his LTC issuance policy is.

What's up with the laser business? Is it just that LEOs are not supposed to modify their firearms?

That was town equipment issued to him for his official duties. He was not authorized to make any modifications without prior permission. More importantly, when questioned about it, he lied. That reflects poorly on his judgment and his truthfulness. That sort of thing would not play well if he were called to testify at a trial. I have little doubt that Stoughton officers get extra scrutiny from defense attorneys these days.

Quoting the chief from the article,

"We bring ourselves to court to testify and, potentially, take liberty and freedom from some people," said Shastany. "An officer that's not truthful is basically unable to perform his duties. He can't testify. He's of no use to me."
