LAWRENCE — A man who police said fired a pistol stolen from a Burlington cop remains locked up until a

judge decides whether it is safe to have him on the streets while he awaits trial.

A dangerousness hearing will be held tomorrow for Luis Gomez, 18, of 328 Andover St. He was arrested

early Sunday after he allegedly fired the stolen Glock 22 .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol near the

Lawrence police station, reportedly in an attempt to impress girls.

The gun and other police equipment were stolen from the trunk of the officer's car when it was broken

into in November while it was parked in Lowell, police said.

The officer is believed to reside in Lowell, police said. The gun was in a locked box inside the trunk,

police said.

Gomez told police he bought it off a man in Haverhill, police said. He is charged with carrying a

firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possession of a firearm

without a firearms identification card, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of

heroin, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct, carrying a

Arrested with Gomez was Marc Theriault, 20, of 80 Bowdoin St. He was charged with disorderly conduct,

possession of a dangerous weapon, a knife, and resisting arrest. He was released without bail and

ordered to return to court Feb. 2.

I knew they'd find a way to blame Lowell. [wink]

Because he was a cop. And we all know how they dont have any regard for the law. Because they never get in trouble for anything. Not like us poor folk who actually like guns.BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Does that pretty much cover all the anti LEO horse s*!t

You don't like them and they don't like you. No big mystery there. Treat them the way you want to be treated.

I thought said lock box must be secured to the vehicle (either bolted or cable locked to a secure structure)?

Nope.

How do you know it wasn't bolted and locked with a Kryptonite cable? I don't think this will end well.[thinking]

What won't end well? The gun was in a locked case in the trunk. No cable or bolts needed. End of story.
