Sportsman's Guide

I'll admit that SG is not always the best on prices and some surplus mags I bought were barely functional but sales issues are largely the result of MASS laws and extortion and legal intimidation by Mass political Hacks.
I have friends & family in several states that have zero problems buying from them.
Since I escaped Mass and moved to a Free State I've bought ammo and supplies from them - zero issues.
Why did they sign a paper with the folks who showed Hugo Chavez how to be a dick?
Because Mass has unlimited resources and can cost them tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal costs. If you are a business and are faced with an attack like that, what are you going to do?
Sorry, but politically and socially Massachusetts is the planet Earths gaping rectal orifice.
I do not miss it in the least. (Well, I miss McCoy Stadium and the Paw Sox but that’s RI!)
Do yourselves a favor and move.
Get a taste of Freedom before it's gone. (To a Mass trained Socialist – Obama)

No need to apologize, I think everyone here will agree with that opinion...Well said!

I can't wait to get out of this state. Now I just need to work on the girlfriend a bit. She wants to leave as well, but has her eyes set on California! [thinking]

Sportsmens Guide does have a symbol of a delivery truck with a number on it at the bottom of the description of a lot of items. They reference a page in the particular flyer that explains each number. There is sometimes no rhyme or reason to why a certain item is restricted. I have ordered from them many times, with good results. Most of the restricted items are associated with EVIL Assault Weapons that our state dislikes so much, but other restricted items are harder to figure out. And a lot of the items they will not ship to MA are available in state. Bottom line, if you don' t like doing business with them, Don't .

I'm bumping this old thread because I haven't seen their name come up in ages and I'd rather not start a new thread.

I recently started getting their catalogs again and it looks like they have acquired an FFL and actually sell real guns now, and look to have some really good deals too.

They have G42's for $379 (member price, $399 non-member), while Cabelas is charging $449 and Bass Pro $469.

I never had any problems with them back in the 80's and most of the 90's, I used to get great deals on cases of ammo, knives and camping/hunting gear etc.
My gripe with them started when they stopped shipping all the stuff I liked to Massachusetts.
Since I don't live in Mass anymore, it's a moot point now, I can get almost anything I want delivered right to my door.

Lol i was just looking at there site. Sucks i live in MA. They wont ship anything here. Almost everything is restricted. A paintball gun is restricted even a kitchen knife is restricted lol. I wish i can order from them as they seem to have decent prices on lots of things

It's just complete shit that the state can and does get away with this. It's not allowing the citizens of the state to participate in e-commerce. The AG does not have the right to do this on fiat !

That doesn't work if you want to pay by credit card, I already tried it years ago.
They won't process the order if the shipping address doesn't match the billing address on the card.

Sometimes there are ways to spoof this including alternate verification addresses on file with the CC company. You call the CC co and say "I need to have items shipped to X but they won't do it because the verification fails because it's not my billing address" then they do something special and bing, done.

Or you paypal the money to your friend and they order it for you. Either way works

I'm in Connecticut and they won't sell me a small Kershaw onion pocket knife.........same knife I can by locally in about five different locations. Their decisions are so arbitrary that there is no rhyme or reason being applied. Other "sharp" items are fine as are air rifles and the like but not a small pocket knife.

There are very few times where their prices for their products are worth while but once and a while they offer something that is unique. That's were a buddy in NH comes in handy.

Not true, I've ordered a few things on my cc and had them shipped to another address

"A friend" has been ordering from them since the 90s. When he moved back here last year he found out that knives and ammo were restricted. He gave them some negative feedback and his next order came through with firearm related items. Go figure.

The last stuff I ordered from them were a couple hoodies, and some shorts. They were the "Guidegear" stuff. First washing the shorts turned into speedo's, and the hoodies shrunk and the seams started to let go not long after. I wanted to write reviews on this junk to warn other people and I couldn't find any way to do it.

Their GG stuff sucks...always has.

I actually bought a pair of their HQ 6" boots to wear at work during the summer and I gotta say they were comfortable out of the box, still waterproof, and haven't failed yet. For $40 I wasn't expecting much but they're actually really good boots.

They refused to ship MA restricted items to a NH address for me, and I was even a Buyers Club Member at the time.

Same here, I got some boots for short money that were very comfortable from day one and lasted a long time.
Some of the GG brand clothing items can be hit or miss.
Many years ago I got some flannel lined insulated winter jeans, really warm and comfortable, and I still have them.
But I also got a chamois shirt that shrunk more than I expected and the buttons pulled off.
Maybe it was just a bad year for thread in China.

I have never had a problem except when I ordered the wrong size which I returned with their dime and then got the correct size. I get ads sent to my email and never order anything unless I get a free shipping coupon. They guarantee everything they sell for ever and will take anything back you don't want to keep even if the item is worn out. As far as I am concerned there are a great company. I do look at the customer reviews and don't order stuff that other people had problems with.

I have ordered at least 6 different pair of shorts with different colors and every pair fit perfectly and a few were better quality then I can buy in Macy's for twice the price. A couple I did not like the color, but I picked the colors. None of them shrunk after washing and then put in electric dryer. Prices ranged from about $9.99 and $16.99.

Move to Georgia!!! Lots of good paying jobs, low taxes low prices for houses, 12 deer limit and can bait them and even use a suppressor to hunt with and even CC inside Hartsfield airport plus most everything is new outside the city of Atlanta. Usually takes 3 to 5 days to get your CC license. Also lots of public land to hunt. Many lakes with commonly caught 20 plus pound stripers and 5 plus pound trout caught even in the city limits. Georgia has the second largest deer heard next to Texas. I can go on and on, but you get the gist of it.
