It is, and a very rare one at that with the Suhl side stamp. Not many of those were made. Its one of the most collectable maks out there.

You've got it right, its a Simson-Suhl Makarov in 9x18mm. My understanding is that there were less than 1,000 of these made in the former east germany after the soviet union collapsed. I picked it up about 5 years ago with 2 mags and the original owners manual for $212.00 out the door. I have seen them on gunboards for over $500.00 asking price, don't know if they brought that much. I wouldn't sell it anyway, I've actuall only shot it very little to test function as I have other maks as shooters.

Sweet, Makarovs are good little shooters, I have one that was actualy my first CCW.
