SHOT show 2015

RWS has rights to the Kalashnikov USA name, they will be making rifles here..Kalashnikov concern from Russia will not be opening a production plant here lol

You are only partially right:
http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/20/news/kalashnikov-made-in-usa/

Excerpt:
"The gun will be made by American company RWC, which is the official importer and distributor of Kalashnikov AK-47s. ...
RWC said it is not permitted to have any contact with the Russian company, Kalashnikov Concern, which makes the AK-47s."

"In the second quarter of this year we are going to start manufacturing here in the U.S.," said McCrossin. "What I'm manufacturing are our own AK-47s and shotguns under the Kalashnikov brand."

He doesn't even have a factory yet so this is still a "down the road" thing.

What convention city could you get to that would not cost a couple hundred bucks to get to?

Shot Show is so big that you will need to spend a few days to see it, so you are also going to paying for a hotel room for a few nights.

Yes, I know all this. I thought the shot show was like the auto show where it travels to different states. This is new to me so I didn't know what the deal was with them.

AFAIK you can no longer get in as a C&R FFL and they jacked the price up considerably for a ticket to get in. It's a very expensive show to attend, you can't buy anything there and most of what you are shown are "future dreams" that may or may not become available any time soon.

Kinda strikes me as the E3 of guns. It is not meant for the everyday joe and more for investors/personalities/websites.

Does that use Glock 21 mags or does LWRC mfg proprietary mags for it? UMP mags?

The price for a dealer/non-NSSF member is $70. For a non-profit org rep, the price is $175. Manufacturer's reps are $35. Even a those prices, the admission fee is dwarfed by the travel and living costs.

I spent the $$ to attend because of the various people in the industry I deal with on various projects. The cost of getting to the Shot Show is more than amortized by the various guns in my safe that I didn't pay for.

I know one case where show staff questioned a non-exhibiting gun manufacturer's staff (07) qualifications to attend (but eventually relented). The easiest way to register without a glitch is to go as a shop staff member, and have the tickets sent to the address on the FFL.

My guess that the price differential is, in part, to encourage people to register as "buyers" (ie, gunshop employees) so that the NSSF can report more favorable statistics when they issue stats like "xx,000 attendeees of which yy,000 were buyers". A "gun shop rep" is more valuable to the NSSF when selling space on the show floor than someone who is obviously not there to buy. I've seen cases where certain swag (like the rolling totes for literature) were being given out by vendors to "dealers only" (not to "exhibitor" or "non profit" nametags). A exhibitor nametag will get you into the show before the doors open in the AM, and a media one will let you use your camera.

Understood wrt your attendance. Please give my regards to our legal contact at Glock!

There is a huge LE exhibit part of SHOT and it was there that LEOs were griping about the fee for LE, IIRC it was $100 or more this year.

[h=2]SMG-45[/h]The last weapon to be released at SHOT is the SMG-45. The SMG is a pistol caliber carbine developed for police and military use. That said, we should see a civilian model by 2016. The SMG-45 is a delayed blowback .45acp carbine that utilizes H&K UMP magazines. It is fully ambidextrous, and the Charging handle can even be swapped to the right side. The SMG is a compact package . If you want to conceal the carbine, or just make storage easier, the gun has a folding stock that reduces length by nearly 10 inches.

Epic lulz: at the Troy booth yesterday looking around with my buddy. Was looking at that new collapsing stock they have for SBR'd ARs. I picked it up and was finger ****ing it for a second when the gun bunny rep came over and asked if we had any questions.

I said: I really like these sights, if I was trying to shoot a woman holding a baby at 200 yards do you think this rifle would be adequate?

They were less than impressed but I think I said what everybody else was thinking, their booth was generally empty throughout the show from what I saw.

I had fun but I'm not going back today, probably walked 10 miles on flat concrete and carpet and to be honest once your there for a day it all starts to look the same. Today we're going to shoot some shit out in the desert and hike up a mountain, **** being inside and casinos I want to see Nevada.

The dudes from Zev tech were cool, they stole my Allah Snackbar patch pretty much first thing but traded me some cool shit and gave me a hookup on getting some work done. Danner boots had some great stuff, talked to the aim point rep for awhile, TNVC, etc, met some cool people, saw some cooler people, LAV, MAC, the ballistic radio dudes etc. Saw Yeager for a fleeting moment and lol'd. All in all it was fun. They aren't giving away a ton of stuff this year which was cool. Tons off stupid skanks and tactibros for sure. I opted not to go to any of the crazy ghey parties. I guess crye'so party was nuts last night but I can't handle the Asian/air soft crowd those kids make me want to throat punch people.
