Figured I ought to update this.

I got as far as Sergeant First Class (E-7), even did it twice. Pissed off the same officer, twice, 2 different units.

Well, 1/86 FA got disbanded, so I transferred. After we went onto the new maintenance scheme.

So, from 1/86 FA, I went to G Co, 186th BSB.

Then E Co, 186th BSB (Mountain).

We supported and were under full control of 3rd Bn, 172 Infantry (Mountain).

The Mountain designation is real deal, not just ceremonial.

3/172 treated me very well. Best unit I served in. They thought I was somebody, and treated me accordingly.

I retired in September 2011, so now, I'm just a retired E-7.

Long hair and full beard too. Just ask Ross.

How did you know that?
She is, and until about 6 weeks ago, I still knew a nuke on her. Unfortunately, she's still in the security area, so I can't tour. I'm not sure how I feel, knowing I wouldn't be authorized to pass the watertight door into the engine room anyway...

I worked there (pipefitter) until Oct. of 2011. I was on the 751 which was nearly finished. The 752 arrived in about August I'd say. At the time, there was no drydock space for her so she was tied up.
Red boxing gloves?

Funny thing about us and the 751...we were both started during a labor strike. we originally were designated 751, but they got ahead in construction. In the battery well, and on some of the surveyor's marks there are 751 MIC marks.

As for the boxing gloves, the turtle's name is Frumpy. Our version is a sub adaptation of the mascot from the CL-65. That mascot was drawn by Walt Disney himself. We half-jokingly called our Frumpy the 5th, unwanted, ninja turtle (the gloves were to ensure nobody got poked in the eye), but the back story is pretty damn cool.

Thanks for keeping her running!
