Courageous Neighbor Stops Burglar in His Tracks
On January 15, 2020, at approximately 4:27 PM, Pelham Police Department received a call from a homeowner who advised when she just arrived home, there was an unknown Chevrolet Avalanche in her driveway with no one in it and its engine running. The homeowner stated that her neighbor went to her residence to check on her home while she stayed behind at his residence. The neighbor then located a male subject in the homeowner’s house. The assisting neighbor then presented his firearm to the unknown male subject as they remained in the driveway until police arrived.

Upon arriving in the area of Kennedy Dr., officers observed a male subject holding a firearm in the direction of a male subject leaning against a running vehicle in the driveway of the home. The male subject holding the firearm immediately announced to officers that he had a firearm and secured it under the officer’s direction. Officers then approached the male subject leaning against the running vehicle who matched the description initially provided by the caller.

Further investigation revealed the male subject, Andrew Billcliff, age 31 of Plaistow, NH had just committed a burglary at that residence. Billcliff was placed under arrest and transported to the Pelham Police Department for processing. The vehicle Billcliff was driving was towed from the scene pending a Search Warrant.

Billcliff was charged with Burglary and Breach of Bail and is currently awaiting bail at the Pelham Police Department.

brave neighbor, but if there was nobody in her home that could be in danger then he’s a fool for going into her home. this burglar was obviously an amateur but this guy could have gotten hurt by the perps or cops, and over what some of her belongings whatever. props to the neighbor for having a set on him but people like that are most useful when kept alive.

Two rounds sent into the air right in downtown Manch Vegas? Those rounds are coming down somewhere else in the city. He's lucky that two minutes later there wasn't another call from across town for someone suddenly having a hole open up in their head. If the situation justifies deadly force, apply it to where it is needed.

The guy probably just didn't want to admit he emptied his gun at the muggers, hit nobody and didn't have a reload.

Score another one for an armed citizen in Manchester:

If it was Mass, he'd be arrested and lose his LTC for life.
True. "self-help", Maura's term for defending one's home and family, is discouraged here. Calling 911 and crying hysterically for help is the politically-correct method for dealing with violent crimes.

Not smart to fire in air, but 2 rounds in air = not statistically likely. The reason people get hit on the 4th or new years is because ghetto types are literally filling the air with lead. If you put hundreds of rounds into the air the odds of some random person getting hit increases dramatically.

Sometimes it only takes one.

(CBS/AP) COLUMBUS, Ohio - An Ohio Amish man will serve 30 days in jail for firing a bullet into the air that inadvertently killed a 15-year-old girl driving a horse-drawn buggy more than a mile away, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

This. Always this. If you’re a legally armed civilian and you willfully insert yourself into a dangerous situation like that one only to protect property you need to have your head examined. If anything goes South the first hour of legal fees will definitely exceed the value of any goods the crook takes from the house.

Before my daughter got her first .22 rifle at age 6, we went for a measured one-mile walk. I heard the "I'm tired, Daddy!" complaint, but I had a lesson for her to learn: her .22 rifle would throw a bullet that far. She was a bit tired, but she understood.
