Buy one. Sure, there’s a few lemons out there and they get the spotlight but from my experience and everyone else’s here, it’s a solid and reliable build. Ruger will fix it if it’s broke, but chances are it’s not going to be.
Around 500 rounds through my 16” from Wolf steel case to gold medal match and hand loads from 125 grain projectiles up to 178. Just leave the gas wide open and it’ll run like a dream. Recoil on fully open gas isn’t harsh at all so why invite problems into your life by turning it down to 2? We’ll see
about the proprietary bolt in a few thousand rounds, but decent .308 is still around $1/rd. (I too see options for less, I’m averaging!) and I’m not looking to toss two grand at a rifle just to see of it’s going to break.
