Rhode Island Task Force Calls For Semi-Auto Regulations, Magazine Ban

A week isn’t a very long time. However, it seems to be plenty long enough for a task force established by the governor of Rhode Island to look at the complex issue of guns, gun control, and gun rights.

The task force apparently released its clever ideas, and it’s not good at all for Rhode Island gun owners.

A gun safety working group established by Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo last week announced their findings and recommendation.

The 43-member group, which was established by an executive order by Raimondo two weeks after the high-profile Parkland school shooting in Florida, was made up of lawmakers, prosecutors, medical professionals and gun control advocates picked by the governor to examine establishing a “red flag” gun seizure law for the state.

While such a law has been adopted since the group was formed, its 99-page report issued last week included proposals to ban magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds and tightly regulate most semi-auto long guns. Falling just short of an outright ban on such rifles and shotguns, the group advocated raising the minimum age to possess such a gun to be raised to 21, require state-approved training and licensing to buy one, and mandate that such arms be registered with law enforcement.

“There is simply no place for such firepower in civilian life,” said the report. “While a clear majority of the Working Group wanted to go further and ban all military-style assault weapons—as our neighboring states, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey have done—the Working Group could not reach consensus for such a recommendation. Importantly, however, everyone agreed that registration and tougher restrictions on these weapons are warranted.”

Other recommendations include bans on 80 percent receivers and 3D printed guns–like that will actually make such a thing stop–as well as bans on carrying guns legally on school campuses, making it more difficult to get a concealed carry permit, and more data collection on firearms.

There’s literally nothing being recommended that will do a damn thing to stop someone with criminal intentions but will do plenty to interfere with law abiding citizens just trying to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

What is it about these people? What is it that makes them somehow conflate criminal activity and law-abiding citizens?

We’re not the threat. We’re not the ones running around shooting people left and right. That falls on the criminals of this country and, in this case, the criminals of in and around Rhode Island. Only a complete and total idiot would think that these are people who are trying to get concealed carry permits and trying to follow the rules.

Yet this task force seems to believe it somehow will.

Of course, what else was going to happen?

This task force didn’t examine the issue of guns. It’s a complex issue that requires a lot of careful study and consideration…unless you go into such a task force already knowing that gun control is preferable and the group exists just to crank out as many recommendations as they could.

That’s all that happened here.

While I have no doubt everyone on that task force thinks these proposals will somehow make the state safer, absolutely none of them looked at anything objectively. They had their minds made up from the outset.

It’s now up to Rhode Island gun owners, with the rest of us as support, to make it clear to state lawmakers that this isn’t remotely a good idea.

Gina is a scumbag. That state has gone downhill for years. Economic recovery, not in RI. If there was she stole it and gave it away to bolster her voters.

If Fung doesn't win this time around then we all deserve what we get in this state. It doesn't help that that shithead Patricia Morgan is turning on the Republican party trying to take votes away for Trillo. Just like what happened last time when cool moose took 60,000 votes ensuring scumbag Gina winning last time

Nothing ever happens there, except once in great while some thugs will shoot at each other with a pistol or something. What the f*** do they need a "gun task force" for? [laugh]

Used to be someone stabbing someone there, and I usually knew the stabber lol

RI is no gun paradise, but so far it has managed to resist a lot of the more crippling restrictions of MA/CT/NJ -- thanks in no small part to the organization of gun owners that show up at the State House any time there's a debate on the issue. Keep it up guys!!

The democrats and rino's simply have no fear of being voted out of office or losing elections anymore, even in places like New Hampshire, Vermont and Florida because the elections are 100% rigged across the country.

That explains the democrats increasingly brazenness and openness about their and the globalist agenda and the elected republican ( "sleeper cell' democrats ) willingness to go along with the democrats statist agenda and gun control legislation.

There is no way that the American people have all of a sudden gone left. People by nature ( even here in Massachusetts ) are moderate to slightly right of center everywhere in the world but it's not reflected in elections and policy much of the time because of voter fraud.

Here in Massachusetts In 2010, Scott Brown won in a landslide here in Massachusetts by misleading people that he was conservative.

That same year, Conservative Sarah Palin, drew over 13,000 people ( Who were not bussed in astro-turfed crowds ) to the Boston Common. Given that empirical evidence, we are then supposed to believe the state just flip-flopped on a dime and went to Ed Markey and Liz Warren and other democrat candidates across the state...It's bullbleep! people don't change their basic make-up political and otherwise on a dime...particularly after 40.

We have a completely top to bottom, illegitimate, electoral system in the United States. Every once and a while the establishment gives us a "victory" ( Such as Scott Brown or Trump ) to try and keep the people from "Blowing up" the system and to make the people falsely believe their voice matters or this "theatre" with Brett Kavanaugh, who when push comes to shove, will probably turn out to be another Justice Roberts.

My point? The democrats and establishment in Massachusetts and across the country, are running a Giant "Poker Bluff" with the American people, in that they believe we will not realize that the vast majority of people are actually against their agenda and not calling them on it by the one thing the democrats, rino's and establishment fear the most...MASS NON-COMPLIANCE with their statist agenda.

Among that "mass non-compliance", should be abandoning the electoral system in mass numbers and thereby rendering the elections and laws illegitimate and non-compliance with gun control.

All the politicians from RI are not compatible with the Constitution. They are pukes

“There is simply no place for such firepower in civilian life,” said the report.

Thats what all the commie dictators say, right before they kill a few million of their own citizens.

Everytime I read or hear some shit bag communist democrat uttering words to that effect, it further strengthens my resolve that guns will be needed more than ever to straighten out this country in the near future.

Never, never, ever give up your guns.

It's no "accident" that the democrats are revealing their gun control agenda and medicare single payer health care proposals and man-made 'Haarp' generated Hurricane Michael as close to the elections as possible.

That is enough talk of man-made hurricanes. I’m sure you can find some other place on the Internet to discuss that, but not here.

The mid-terms are already rigged in the democrats favor!

It's no "accident" that the democrats are revealing their gun control agenda and medicare single payer health care proposals and man-made 'Haarp' generated Hurricane Michael as close to the elections as possible.

After the democrats "win" ( sarcasm ), they and the fake news lame stream, will reveal fake exit polling data ( Already pre-printed ), saying the main issues with the American people were: 1. Gun control

2. Climate change

3. Single payer health care through medicare

So the democrats can falsely claim they have a "mandate" for those three and the republicans will go along like clock work

Fully expect between now and the elections, FBI staged ( where no one actually gets hurt ) false flag mass "shootings" ( possibly as early as this Saturday the 13th ) to Try and give the democrats a fake campaign issue and "grease the skids" for Rhode Island gun control and more gun control nationally

Salemcat or whoever the f*** you are, get lost. Go shitpost on another board.

Comments about "civilian ownership" really piss me off. I was an MP, so I was not a civilian LEO. However, cops who work for municipalities are in fact civilians, and the more they want to pretend they are not the worse relations between police and the rest of us get. It also makes it easier to say we all should not have firearms while cops can keep them, because after all, they are fighting a war, right?

So basically become just like Mass in gun laws, but stay like Detroit when it comes to the economy.

BTW, the Parkland shooter used 10 rd mags because they fit into his duffel bag better, so the whole mag capacity law is total crap.

One of Websters definitions of civilian is:

Definition of civilian

1: a specialist in Roman or modern civil law

2a: one not on active duty in the armed services or not on a police or firefighting force

b: OUTSIDER sense 1
As with assault rifle, their definition is incorrect. Their incorrect definition of civilian promotes the false narrative that we have or should have a military government. Police are civilians in the US, regardless of how much they might want to consider themselves soldiers in a neverending war against those who are not LEOs.

It’s all reactionary feel good BS. Vermont seems to be headed down a slope as well, which is worrisome.
I hear Bozeman Montana is beautiful...

That is one hell of a messed up read. Rhode Islanders have their work cut out for them.

Ghost Gun proposal:
"Amend the definition of “firearm” to include any “unfinished frame or receiver.”"
Does this include shovels and soda cans?

Give Gina all of your guns. And your property. And your money. She will take care of all. As she sees fit. Stalin? Lenin? Mao??? They've got nothing on Gina.

She's got black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. But when they roll white after she sticks it to you. . . . . .

Looks like Maura's southern sister..... This is what happens when they get entrenched, they replicate all around the region.

Interesting take, written by a police officer who considers himself a civilian:

"According to Merriam-Webster a civilian is "a person who is not a member of the military or of a police or firefighting force". The Oxford Dictionary has a similar definition. However it starts to get more blurred when you refer to international law".
