Rally - Stand With GOAL Against H.4121 June 18

doesn't hurt to have people outside with signs. Some people are still clueless to what is going on. Large groups gather attention and getting the attention of the people who don't know whats going on is a good thing

I don't disagree and there were plenty of signs and cheering for the speakers and seemed to be some news coverage. Overall it was short and too the point, then off to see the reps...

My Rep, Denise Garlick, is sponsoring a bill to force MA state pensions funds to divest from companies with 'business activities relating to the manufacture, sale, distribution of prohibited weapons and munitions banned under Massachusetts General Laws' so she is most likely a lost cause but I plan on going to her next office hours and speaking with her about 4121. I also plan on asking her whey she has not returned my previous emails and call.

Pretty sure we saw linsky or a look a like watching the beginning of the rally. There was an intern next to us taking notes for a senator.

Pretty decent turnout but i hoped for more. Short notice midweek will do that though. Great speeches. Those who spoke and stood up there supporting us should all be thanked.

And if Leah Cole isn't married someone should fix that! Wifey material

Thanks to all who showed up.

Good, but not 'great' turnout. We had way more last January, and last April.

I went in & met with my rep - George Peterson. He's obviously already on our side. I thanked him for his support and for his years of service (he's retiring soon). Asked him what else we can do, and he said to keep calling, writing, and visiting with our reps and Senators.

One frustrating thing I heard was when one of the speakers was talking, he said that the legislators were "starting to hear us."

"Starting?"

Why haven't they BEEN hearing, and more important LISTENING to us? Hearing is one thing. Listening is a more active process, and actually requires paying attention, and learning from what you're "hearing."

Keep the pressure up! They need to LISTEN!

I went, heard the speeches, and went in and met with my Rep, Carolyn Dykema. She said the suitability and FTF issues are the biggest obstacles to the legislation, and we should 'feel good' that there isn't a 7 round mag limit in the bill.

She was pretty knowledgeable on the [STRIKE=.]bull[/STRIKE], err, BILL, and disagrees with the FTF limit and the suitability clause for FID, but if pressed to vote on it 'as-is' she still supports it because 'the good outweighs the bad'. What a fricken waste of time.

I politely told her that if she casts a yea vote on this bill, that I could not longer support her as my rep and THIS was my 'wedge issue' (not that I did to start), and that I would enlist the 500+ members of my gun club and their spouses that lived in her district to also withhold support.

Be polite people, it makes a difference.

Eldredge was too busy doing the work of the commonwealth to meet with [STRIKE=.]serfs[/STRIKE], err, [STRIKE=.]the little people[/STRIKE], err, the EBT funders, so his chief of staff was willing to take a note to hm if he deemed it relevant, provided we were willing to wait for him to finish his lunch. Per his office he is currently leaning in support of the bill as is. Statist d-bag

We should also be happy that there "isn't a total ban on guns with confiscation" [puke2]

Had a good time, even though i showed up a little late. Wasnt able to get inside (would have taken me anouther 30 mins just to get back to the car, unload everything) but I hope some people saw us and realised that there is more to this bill then the dems want you to think.

side note, anyone in contact with the BFD? just wondering what all the commotion was about durring the anti-obamacare rally afterwards? must have had a dozen trucks come screaming by in convoy (after the went by earyler to the other side of the park).

BTW, as a former Volly firefighter... if you are the 5th truck in a convoy of firetrucks, you DONT need to lay on the siren. All it does is confuse people more. If they dont see/hear the first 4 trucks then they wont see/hear you either

Thanks to everybody that did show up. I think everybody needs to thanks the folks that spoke today, they're sticking their necks out a bit IMHO, I appreciate their willingness to address the issue so vigorously.

I went inside with a couple other guys and got maybe about 45 minutes with Rep John Rogers (Walpole/Norwood). He said he didn't know much about the bill so we spent the better part of the next 45 minutes trying to educate him. In the end I'm not sure that we got through to him, and if that's the case then he's got competition in the form of Tim Hempton (R) that I will throw my full support behind (hold signs, donate, etc) to unseat Rogers. Hopefully we got through to him but I'm not really sure.

We tried to meet with Senator Rush but I just was able to hand a letter to an aide.

I do think that delivering letters has an effect, John Rogers was pretty focused on mine during some of the conversation.

At the very least, keep flooding the State House with calls and letters and email.

My rep was not avail so i spoke to his aid. He didn't have a clue about the bill and even admitted he new nothing of firearm laws. I educated him as best i could in the short time we had. Mostly about private sales and suitability. Lucky for me some one spoke to him before me so some of the point were already made.

THanks to the guys I rode up with.
Showing up is the first part of winning a fight.
ANd I should not want to race the driver...wow..that was fancy!
I do think
that we made a point . And as to the comment about the seven round limit"
wasn't that already overturned by the supreme court?
Perhaps the legislator shoudl be informed of this?

Very disappointing showing! Maybe 200 at best. Previous rallies filled the state house stairs, the area across the street and piled deep into the Common. If we, the victims of this poorly cast legislation, can't muster greater interest in our 2nd Amendment rights; I guess we deserve what we get. Thanks to all that attended and to the Reps that spoke in our favor.

We do not deserve what we get! We keep getting the dirty end of the political pointer. Gun owners are out-numbered and out voted by the very liberal constituency most of whom are all too eager to continue to curtail gun ownership in this state. As my former state rep said, "We need for people to feel safe. We need people to see that we are trying to make them feel safer."
Best regards.

Talked with my Rep. Boldyga and also Rep Velis. Stopped into Humason's office but he was working in the district today, had a nice talk with one of his aides.
Also dropped off the GOAL oppose H4121 flyer to Speaker DeLeo's office with my contact information. His secretary said she would put it on his desk, we'll see.

Because goal could organize even that. Many people didn't know that it was 11 sharp. It wasn't clear. I got there 11:40 it was over!
Goal sucks!

I told my reps assistant that if you want common sense reforms and comprimise then you need to give stop pushing more restictions and undo some of the ones that you put in place. You want "unversial background checks?" get rid of the assault weapons ban, mag limits, ag list then we can have common sense. if I have a large cap lic why do I have to have restricted mags?
