Preferred Range Bag?

Its pretty handy. Ive got everything i need in there from tools, to chrono and shot timer, lubricants etc. Spray glue, paint, soccer cones, chemlights, blah blah blah.

Best part is it wheels around and you can use it as a seat, or a barricade.

I need to rattlecan it.
I have one for some of my tools

But you can throw a cable lock thru it.. and the modularity

I just wish i thought of it lol

I've had my Midway bag for about 6 years, and it is doing well. It will carry everything you want to carry in it, but it will be heavy as hell so I use a trolley from Walmart.
I’ll second the midway bag. Mine is the large one and can get heavy with ammo.

Love my vertx

One thing to consider is you want the bag to be at least 600 denier for strength and waterproofing. Also, anything larger than the examples above and in the husky video, will get heavy quickly when you bring ammo. for the four guns you wish to shoot in addition to the other equipment.

Looks nice. The problem is all the pockets to put stuff are on the inside and they are not covered.

I don't know about everyone else, but I keep a bunch of oil and cleaning supplies in my bag. I have one that looks like the Midway bag so I can keep everything in the outside pockets.

TBH ... the inside is big enough for guns, but I usually load it with ammo, targets and other stuff like hearing protection. I always carry my guns separate. I do carry guns in the bag when I compete.

I keep my bag loaded with everything I need to work on, and clean, rifles and handguns.

If you will carry the guns separate, the above bag is good. If you won't, you are going to have everything in the pockets sticking out inside.

Savior's Pistol range bag product specs call out a three pistol capacity, but it will carry four semi-automatics (not revolvers) in a pinch. Plenty of room for ammo, magazines, a small toolkit, an IFAK and two sets of over the ear protection. I also keep a stapler, at least a dozen 6" splatter targets, spare earplugs, bug repellent and wipes in mine.

Customer service is top notch. One of the corners in my bag's liner (a covered kydex) was warped inwards. Savior asked for a couple pictures, sent a replacement out, and said to keep the original. Attached picture shows the warped liner, plus the two pair of earpro and IFAK.

Never owned a rangebag, they seem like a ripoff.

I always wrapped whatever guns I was bringing in a microfiber towel and threw them into a backpack. Ammo in a doubled up plastic shopping bag, tools and basic cleaning supplies are in a plastic part carrier thing that I just keep in the back of my truck.

WTS - FREE adjustable 26 compartment plastic storage boxI have one of these things for tools and cleaning in my truck

I guess you can't flex with my rangeday loadout, its a gun range not a fashion runway :)

I just got this same bag, haven’t used it for a range trip yet but I am pleasantly surprised at the quality for the price. Got a couple rifle bags too and they’re awesome.

I also have this one - Specialist Mini Range Bag

It's well thought out and those velcro backed zip pouches are really good....but it's size causes me to have to leave stuff out. It makes a good "practice" bag, one gun, couple hundred rounds with mags, stapler, eyes, ears...and not much else.

Yep. Only downside as already mentioned is that it's big so you tend to put tons of stuff in....it can weigh a ton.

I have the original version of this bag made by shooters connection. I have had since around 2009. I load a good amount in it, but leave the outer bag in the car when I'm at the range. Just ammo, a gun and any stuff I might need for a match. If I need anything in the outer bag, I just walk back to the car.

I keep the med kit separate, and have that in the truck all the time. I'll bring it along with the range bag. It is not set up specifically/solely for range use, more of a general 5 minute bag for someone who also goes to the range.

Very small generic soft side zip closed tool bag. On the outside pockets I keep 2 CAT tourniquets, shears, nitrile gloves, and a small flashlight.

Inside, no separate compartments, all just tucked in together. Basically zip open then top to bottom:
Eyepro, N95 mask, headlamp
2 6" Tacmed Solutions OLAES bandages, 1 twin pack of compact Hyfin vented chest seals
small ziplock bag with 4 doses of Narcan, small ziplock bag with an OPA kit
1 adult size collapsible bag valve, 1 pedi mask, 1 adult mask,
1 regular adult CPR mask in a case, #3 and #4 iGel airways
2 foil blankets

I figure that will keep me busy until someone on duty gets there.

I’ve been very happy with my 5.11 range bag. Only gripe I have is the water bottle pocket is too small for a Nalgene/hydroflask sized bottle.

I bought a few extra of these to carry ammo and use the one that came with for spent brass.

Yup. that Midway bag is the one to get. I've had mine for years and love it.

The 5.11 and the Midway are the same bag with different branding. I happen to have the 5.11 which I've been using for Action Shooting (IDPA, USPSA, Steel ...) for around 7 or 8 years. No problems and the bag has many years of life left. Same complaint as @Bodhisattva , I wish the water bottle pocket was larger.

I won a GPS G5 Handgunner Backpack a few months ago at Live Free or Die. I was really looking forward to using it however with this specific model suffers from the following:
  • Isn't large enough to carry everything. I went through everything and attempted to reduce things down but just couldn't get everything I wanted in the bag.
  • Magazine pouchs not deep enough. I couldn't get the zipper to close with 6 standard capacity P226 mags.
  • Handgun storage area will not accept many full size pistols. Try putting in a standard 1911 or a revolver with a 4/5" barrel.
G5 Outdoors G.P.S. Handgunner Range Backpack With Foam Cradle For 4 Handguns, Durable Pistols, Ammo & Shooting Accessories Storage

They make a larger taller model. I think this one would come a lot closer to meeting my needs.

I have and use the G5 but have none of the problems you are talking about. Fits my 1911's and wheel guns with ease. I don't have a P226 but load up the mag slots with G19 mags no problem as well.

I just use a fishing tackle bag, Holds 2 pistols 4 boxes of ammo, Lube, Targets, and tools
And yes it has doubled zippers so lockable.

The IFAK in my range bag is set up as a basic "OSK" (Oh Shit Kit) for the range. It's intended as something I can just leave in the bag with the other range basics (ear/eye pro, targets, etc.), and add the day's range loadout of pistols and ammunition as needed. There is a much more substantial multiple casualty FAK close at hand in the trunk.

The IFAK in the picture has a CAT TQ and shears outside, while on the inside there are: 3 ea. of nitrile gloves, Celox, and heavy flow tampons, 2 ea. of Hyfin-vents, 4" Israeli Bandages, and 1y rolls of Koban, and 1x 24" aluminum field splint. The archery "range bag" has something similar.

I like the idea of adding a foil blanket to the bags for shock and will do so.

Been happy with this, think it goes on sale at times for less.

Its zippers also allow them to be locked so I use these to secure the zippers and make it a "locked" container.

Nice bag.
TSA is not supposed to have access to your firearms. Thus the "TSA Locks" should not be used by us traveling with firearms.
