Paracord

Been looking to acquire some paracord....in bulk if possible, seems like it'd be handy to have around.

is there a crappy brand I should avoid? or is all paracord pretty much the same?

If you're looking for high-quality stuff, look for MIL-C-5040H Type III. You'll pay a little more for it, but it's stronger than the commercial grade cord.

Very first review says that stuff isn't "real" paracord. I wouldn't pay a premium if I wasn't getting the real deal.

I bought some of the 11 strand cord from Tough Grid on Amazon:
Tough Grid Type IV
It seems to be pretty good stuff. The nylon shell is tightly woven and it feels pretty substantial. Slightly thicker than the standard 550 cord - thick enough that it won't fit through some of the features on my spool tool. I ordered some Titan mil-spec 550 cord for my spool tools - haven't received it yet, though.

The stuff I got was the real deal. That guy may have gotten hosed by a different vendor. I'll go back and check which vendor I bought from.
