i need to get a bit of paracord for making a neck knife neck cord. is all paracord created equal? or i guess the question is...do you people that use it more than some of us generally favor one brand over another for quality. i'm going to get 550 rated for this chore and i know for my little project that's overkill, but anyway, i'm thinking an inferior cord may start to rot after going through one sweaty summer. as for the remaining cord that's left over, i'd like to make sure it holds up if i ever need it for something. hey, i know, no big deal, it's cheap enough. but i've been hanging out here too long and have developed skinflint tendencies lately, i just want to buy right the first time. maybe we could start a paracord megathread! [laugh] (kidding on the megathread thing)

I like local RW Rope. Others here have liked Elwood. RW Rope used to do a RopeFest and had great classes and sales. It has been a problem since WuFlu. I don't know if they are doing it this year. This in addition to the annual warehouse sale. They make their own cordage and rope there.

Local to New Bedford, MA

This would be the biggest factor to consider. What is it made of?

@Matt_SERE, these guys have what i'm needing. prices are very competitive, they have a ton weight worth of patterns/colors and let the customer practically invent a new one in their head if they aren't seeing what they want. don't know how they manage that, they must have a pretty vast dye palette.

they had "made in usa" clearly marked product. it's marked on the cord i'm after. an incident with a knife buy this past week [banghead], regarding where it was made, this "made in usa" is important for me right now.

and they also specifically have what i need branded "rot resistant" which is what prompted my original thread for cordage. very important for me now, this rot resistance.

sadly, it looks like rw rope is more into being a distributor than a manufacturer now.

i guess i found my happy place as far as para cord goes. i'm easy. [laugh]
