New Folks Check In and Say Hi #4

Hey All,

I'm relatively new to the forum. I received a ton of great information while I was lurking on this site, so now I have decided to step out from behind the curtain.
Everyone has been so great sharing their personal experiences and this forum is a perfect place to do so. I look forward to meeting new friends, learning a ton more about being a responsible carrying citizen, and hopefully sharing my experiences with others down the road.

Thanks for making me feel welcome.

Jon

Thanks Mlaboss I'll check it out.

Welcome.

While you are at it, do a search for "open carry" and "concealed means concealed." You will find many threads discussing the general concensus that while open carry is not technically illegal, it is not a good idea. So if you are going to carry, you should do some homework.

Hello and Welcome Jon,

Glad you already found the site useful and enjoyable. Thank you for going green in support. You will be able to meet plenty of other shooters going to one of the meet/greets or NES shoots is an awesome time. Hope to see you at one in the future.

Evening everyone. I've been lurking around NES for about a month or so. My name is Matt and just wanted to pop in and say "hi." My girlfriend and I recently applied for my LTC on 9/25 at the haverhill pd. We are still waiting to hear from them. This site is been very informative and I am looking forward to meeting some new people, becoming a more responsible citizen and just having fun.

[cheers]

New here and have already found myself making a splash I guess. Grew up in NJ around guns (Dad and uncle shot skeet and hunted pheasant relatively often) but shot pretty infrequently. Shot a buddies S&W 15-22 and it rekindled the urge to shoot. Decided to pick up a 10-22t to get into plinking, small game hunting, and putting holes in paper. Recently picked up a Mosin that will be used as a hunting rifle once I feel comfortable taking longer shots with it.

People might not like me. I am pretty liberal in most of my political beliefs. But I think part of what makes this country great is that we can all have our own beliefs. If we disagree here, keep your opinion of me open, and I'll buy you a beer if we end up meeting in person.

Hi All,

Bob from Medway here. New to the community/ culture. Applied for my LTC on Labor Day ... and still waiting..
Definitely reading a ton of useful information for a 'noob' such as myself. Hope to learn a ton about the culture/lifestyle and .. a bit about prepping.

Cheers,
Bob

Another from my neck of the woods! Awesome let me know how the LTC process goes for you. I am interested for when my renewal comes up to stay on top of the current process. Happy to have you here Matt, even better that both you and your girl are getting into the community. I hope you enjoy the site as much as the rest of us, see you in the discussions.

Hello and welcome japollner,

At least your upfront and honest with your mindset. I may not agree with you thus far in some of your posts but I can tell by your attitude that you seem to be a nice guy. We may not all think the same but hopefully after you spend some more time here you will see a light to some of your views. That all being said I want to say thanks for going green in support of the forum. The 10/22 is a great little rifle, as I have 2 of them lol. I don't have a Mosin myself but they are fun as well. Hopefully your time here will be enjoyable as it is for the rest of us.

Hello,
I am in Worcester, MA. I haven't gone shooting since I was in scouts. Really would like to get back into it. Took the Home Firearm Safety Class at WPRC and looking for more. LTC-A may need to wait until I find employment [sad].

Just heard about this site and am moving back to the New Hampshire and looks like an interesting bunch with local knowledge. I am an older guy who has been shooting over fifty years and reloading for about thirty-five of them. I work with a lot of wildcats so bench time is important to me. I shot competitively for quite a few years mostly silhouette, bulleyes, some marginal IPSC and a little benchrest but that was when I had good eyes and deeper pockets so I don't do much except club shooting these days. I am a serious reloader and do quite a bit of work developing and testing loads so I seem to have accumulated my share of equipment and all the other stuff that comes with the addiction. Up to about ten years ago I was doing quite a bit of Smith revolver work for pin and plate shooters, some bullseye and I may get back into this down the road once I get set up.

I have been lucky over the years to get up close and make friends with some talented gunsmiths who have shared with me, but I found it was almost impossible to make a living in that field. I need to find a couple of good clubs that have at least 200 yard ( longer is better ) ranges and well equipped indoor range. I shoot a Sharps and other long range BP rifles and would love to find others out here who do the same. Looking for a real shooters club where I can meet guys like myself who load and love to shoot tight groups. Suggestions are appreciated look forward to participating here.

Hello and welcome garbler,

Very happy you took the time to introduce yourself. You will find a great mix of shooters from the old timers to the new shooters on the board. Plenty of reloaders as well! Sounds like you have a great understanding of the hobby and we welcome your knowledge to the board as well. I know of plenty of other shooters with your same passion for a tight group :) My range is Harvard Sportmans and they have a 200/300 yard range but require membership and qualification to shoot at them. Hopefully you will find others that share you same passion and can become friendly.

Enjoy!

I've been enjoying reading this forum for a while now and decided it was time to register. In a short time I've already found a ton of great info.

I'm fairly new to this hobby. My brother-in-law took me to his range a couple of times and I was hooked. It wasn't long before I obtained my own club membership.

I got my LTC Class A - with the Target and Hunting restriction (@*#$%!!) - in Peabody a few months back. I purchased my first gun a couple months ago, and my second one within the past couple of weeks. Looking forward to continuing to learn so I can stop being a newbie!

Thanks to all for a great website!

Hello Harpua,

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the great introduction. Hope you can enjoy the forum.
Maybe someone can step up for you off the forum. You may want to look and see if there is a thread about Lowell Sportsmans Club and post there.

New guy from RI - just checking in. I am going to start reloading for the first time - my wife gave me a lee 1000 progressive press in .45 as a birthday gift.

Hello Joerotella,

Sounds like a good wife you got there. I am glad she is going to get you going on the reloading. You will be very happy you did. There is a ton of knowledge on the forum but I also suggest taking a reloading class as well. There are a few on the board that do them including EddieCoyle which you can look up. Enjoy and be safe.

Hello all,

I recently stumbled upon NES via internet search for reloading information. I am from Southern NH. I have been shooting and reloading handgun since the late 80's' but stopped in the late 90's only to get back into it a few years ago. My kids are grown now so my wife no longer fears an accident, although I have yet to convince her to come shoot with me.
Anyway, great site with tons of information and interesting stories. I look forward reading more!

Hello and Welcome Buggin,

Hello Glump,

Very happy to hear your getting back into the shooting community. Plenty of reloaders on the board as well, your in good company. Never easy to get the wife involved but if she is cool with spending money on your hobby then half the battle is already won. Enjoy the site!
