Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for a friend.

Your nephew had the courage to step in and help his friend when many others that night were standing back or running away in fear. It is quite possible that your nephew saved his friend's life. It is unfortunate however, that he lost his own in the attempt.

There are no words that can bring you or your family comfort at the tragic loss of such a brave young man. But hopefully in time, the knowledge of his heroic deed will replace the anguish and pain with an overwhelming sense of pride in what he did, and the life of a friend he most likely saved.
