There is a good posibility that I may be relocating to the PRM. What am I in for as far as my firearms go? I own a lot of post ban AW's as well as a hoard of high cap mags for pistols and rifles. Some of my guns are new, like my Thompson with 100 round drum. As I read the laws, I am screwed. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I'd be willing to bet that at least some of your rifles and "high capacity feeding devices" will not be able to join you here in the worker's paradise.

Move to southern NH and commute. Do NOT fall into the trap of living in MA.

Alas, I work in Providence. I was looking at Attleboro / Seekonk area. I can no longer endure the taxation and lack of services for said taxation in RI, and it's only to get worse. If this nightmare comes true at least the market is rampant.
So items bought and possessed out of state are not exempt?
As well, I will need to figure out what to do with my LTC.

If you think RI sucks, wait till you see Massachusetts at work.

you'd be better off in Ct... East Killingly Ct to Providence is about 30 miles

The laws in CT are cut and dry, I know they suck. Mass is beyond confusing. This is the weather talking now, Phoenix is looking real good. Unfortunatly, I'm tied to the Providence area.

MA is cut and dry once you filter.

MA laws are confusing on purpose. They want them way so you will always be wrong, even if you are right. Every person in authority you deal with gets to play God by interpreting the law in a total different way than another.

I am finally fed up w/ MA BS to the point that I hate this state and once I line up a job somewhere else I am gone. I am going to go somewhere free.

Taxations? Lack of services? Sounds like MA. Seriously, though, you'd have to neuter all your post-ban evil black rifles and most likely dump most/all of your mags.

Don't do it! Stay away! Go ANYWHERE else!

Massachusetts....

... I've lived here all my life and am desperately looking forward to the day I can escape.

You're entering a world of pain. Do yourself a favor and move to NH instead if you need to be near this state. We're not kidding.

If for some bizarre reason you -HAVE- to move inside the borders of this state, this thread is a good place to start.... you need to find out whether or not your destination town
of residency is shitty or not WRT firearms licensing:

What everyone has said is true.

Seriously. Don't do it, its something you'll regret.

Many forum members have left and moves slightly north.

Join us up here in NH. [grin]

If you need access to Providence, Attleboro isn't a bad choice. They will issue ALP, as will Norton, right next door.I can drive from Taunton/Norton line to Providence in 25 minutes in traffic.

also, seekonk is green, and is probably about 10 minutes away from providence

A royal screwing, that's what you're in for. We still have the Clinton "Assault Weapon" Ban - so you need to sell any post ban hicap mags OR keep them OUT of this socialist hellhole (No honest man needs more than 15 rounds - Bill Ruger). Any post-ban "assault weapons" either need to stay out of state, get sold or get neutered. IE; no collapsible stocks (don't you know that only criminals are short? [rolleyes]) and no flash hiders (only criminals shoot in low-light situations [puke]).

Find someplace in RI that you can deal with. Really. You don't want to move here. This isn't the land of freedom that you're looking for.

MA laws suck, too. Trust us on this.

Yes, you read the laws correctly: you are screwed.

Every time I read a thread where someone is looking for advice on what S&W (or any other brand) firearm to get, someone always chimes in "get a Glock". Comments like that don't help the individual that isn't getting a Glock. I try very hard not to be that "get a Glock" guy. But when it comes "moving to MA" threads, I have to be that guy. This is for anyone that is thinking of moving to MA for any reason at all (work, family, just because, etc.). If you have any other option which is feasibly available to you at all, please do not move to Massachusetts. Just don't. This isn't like a choice between a 1911 and a Glock, or between 9mm and .45. There is a wrong choice here. MA just plain sucks. If you can find a way to not do it, don't do it. I have actually seriously considered dramatically changing my career goals just so I could move out sooner than I currently plan to. Massachusetts is that bad, and worse if you aren't originally from here and are used to being treated like, oh, I dunno, an American.

Alright, I think we've successfully beaten this point to death. Without more details from the OP, we can't really give any more detailed info on what modifications you would have to perform.

Don't move to MA. Everything about it sucks, except for the Red Sox and Sam Adams. I'm moving as soon as I can find suitable land in VT or NH.
