Is there a place to download these forms or do I have to get
them from the PD? I called the PD and they said that the FA-10
has been replaced. What is the ID of the replacement form?

Thanks,

Richard

I called the PD and they said that the FA-10 has been replaced.

The FA-10 is still good. You cannot download it because it's a carbon-less copy form.

We had a thread about this a while back and many people said they still get these from their PDs. But a few out here in western Mass do not have them.

I think that you can call the CHSB and ask them to send one to you.

What town gave you THAT misinformation?

Perhaps the officer was thinking of the F 25/26 - which hasn't been replaced either; just augmented by MIRCS. Or, it was another clueless dispatcher shooting his/her mouth off about something he/she knew nothing about. [roll]

I hear lots of those stories........

Needham. I'll be going down to the PD tomorrow to pick up the
replacement form and will let you know what it is. The officer I
talked to asked what I wanted it for and I replied a private sale
of a firearm and the officer responded positively so I'll see.

It should be obvious

"The officer I talked to asked what I wanted it for..."

Given that the only purpose of the FA-10 is to report a firearms transfer, what ELSE would you want it for? And whether you are buying, selling or just reporting a receipt such as an inheritance, what business is it of his?

The PD either has the forms or it does not. The response is not "What do you want it for?;" it's "Yes, here you go" or "No, we're out of them. Try contacting the FRB."

This is similar to the crap people requesting police logs are subjected to.

Exactly. It's none of their bloody business.

Why do I want them?

Why, in order to remain in compliance with the laws of our fair state, deak kindly Officer Krupke.

Well,

I went down to the PD today and the Desk Sargent was a good deal
brighter than the officer I talked with on the phone last week. Asking
for the documents, he gave me, guess what, fa-10's.
