Making that 50oz weight limit for a MA legal AR pistol build is tough, but this will help. I wish they gave the weight of it though.
They put this baby on a serious diet.

[STRIKE=Any idea how much the fcg milling will remove on top of that?][/STRIKE]

12.1 OEM, 11.5 finished. .6 oz savings from stock lower.

Yes, and I think to have any chance of making it, you would need the lightest receiver possible. Probably all plastic.

If you had the change to spring for one of the ULTRAlight carbon wrapped barrels for $900, you could probably make due with Al. Too bad Proof Research doesn't make anything shorter than 14.5"

Wait....so, I need to register it as an SBR and make sure it weights a certain amount?

Depends, if you could find even lighter parts like a lighter rail, titanium BCG, maybe a lighter barrel..every ounce counts, but your probably right. 50 oz is 3.1 lbs, that's very skimpy.

Drop the hand guard . Can't have one on a ar pistol in mass. It counts as a barrel shroud.

Lighten the bcg. Can go ti, but you can Swiss cheese a semi bcg.
Slick slide upper.

Ya ur right, i forgot about the barrel shroud.

Its so damn massified i wouldn't waste my time and money on it.

Handguns/Pistols:
(C) a semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of--
(i) an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
(ii) a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer;
(iii) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned;
(iv) a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and
(v) a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm; and

BCG is already lightened. Buffer is lightened.
Bottom line: You need to cut a full pound from a pistol the mfg created as a lightweight firearm.

If you remove the handguard what goes in its place?

That receiver is still raw. Look at it, there are no FCG/selector holes or trigger slot.

All the others mentioned in this thread are 100% receivers. No good for those of us who roll our own.

ha ha, that's a heavy receiver, roll your own for third of the weight ...
