I have the opportunity to buy the following from out of state:

Rock River Arms lower
Bushmaster A3 upper
DPMS A2 fixed "split" stock
Rock River Arms bolt carrier
Wilson (Combat) 20" heavy barrel

The person can bring the gun to a MA location for transfer. I am just hoping to get an idea of whether or not I am missing anything? Total novice with AR's. It does not have bayon. lug...and does have a fixed stock. Any further assistance would be appreciated.

Flash hider or threaded barrel?

Not sure i will check, if it has the flash hider and threaded barrel then it is a no go???

Normally, unless you have some strange AR that doesn't have a detachable magazine or a pistol grip. Such a thing probably exists in CA but I wouldn't want it.

Right. Bull barrel with a target crown is fine. Threaded barrel or flash hider needs to be either cut off or replaced with a compensator and pinned/welded.

nothing really to add other then if it does have a FH and not a comp, you can likely have a local smith replace the FH with a Comp (if it is not too much)

keep in mind that many MA gun shops are now getting a nice supply of ARs in and you may want to make sure you don't over pay (in long run if mods are needed)

Just make sure the seller has a MA non-res LTC if they're going to personally bring the gun into the state for the FFL transfer, as an AR is likely to be interpreted as a Large Capacity Weapon which is a no-no for a non-LTC holder. If the seller doesn't have an LTC (and you do, obviously) you could meet them at the border and escort the gun down.

Also, if the gun currently is not in MA configuration, and you want to have the configuration changed as matt1956 suggests, you'd either have to have that done before the seller brings it into the state, or have the seller ship it directly to the FFL who is going to do the modification.

Finally, just be careful about what mags come with it, and make sure none of them are post-ban large capacity ones.

You can have a threaded barrel but the threads must not be "accessible". eg, you have to weld a nut over the threads or weld a brake over them. (or if
you really want to be safe, use the old batfe standard of blind pin + weld) .

Could a non-LTC holder bring in a broken down AR? It's just parts at that point.
