M-44 in Plastic??

Does anyone know if the M-44 Reciever,Action,Trigger group Etc: is the
same as the 91/30 ?? the reason i ask is because i saw a Plastic stock
on page 66 of the Cheaper than Dirt Catalog for a Mosin Nagant, and i
thought that if i got one of those long eye relief scopes and a scope mount
that goes on the rear sight, stick it in that Plastic stock and have a great little scout/carbine for hunting! all drop in/clamp on stuff anyone think

Manufaturing tolerances aside, your M44 should drop in the synthetic stock with no problem.

There is a problem with these stocks. I have seen four so far that are bent to the right hand side at the front of the stock. I had to open up the barrel channel on all four to allow for clearance between the stock and barrel. ATI may have fixed this problem.

Thanks JH and JR for the info, i thought that thay looked verry close and
it makes sense to make a carbine by useing the same action and just
make a shorter barrel and stock on it and thanks for the tip on the bend
