Too bad it didn't have the serial number of the rifle he used. Would have been interesting to find out if someone got it from the CMP at some time.

EDIT: Oh it does have it on the cover. 4314215 Anyone of the M1 gurus know what make M1 that could be? Does it rule out any production like IH or Winchester?
