This thread is a dupe-dupe-dupe of a dupe, or something like that. However, Judge Hillman has actually been on the federal bench since 2006, appointed during the Bush presidency.

"Hillman was appointed a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts (Worcester Division) on February 13, 2006. He served until he was elevated to an Article III post for the district."

The 2012 "Article III post for the district" was an appointment during the Obama presidency, but that was after he had already been on the federal bench for six years.
