You don't need a C&R to buy from CMP (unless Mass somehow requires it). If you want one, you'd best hurry. I wanted an 03-A3, but, they're GONE.

First thing going in the chamber is a T-E gage. Thanks for the thought. I've got a new in wrap 03-A3 star gaged barrel already.

Man goes to show I should read alot more then I do, for some reason I thought you had to be CMP certified to purchase from there... I know HHRG is part of their program... but thought I had to be signed off by them... I learn something new everyday here!

CCW's, C&R's and FFL's counting for weapon qualification is new.

Current Military service and Vet/Police Org membership counting for club membership is also new.

The term "new" is relative.

I ordered my M1s thru CMP based on LE back in 2000 and didn't have to shoot a match.

Len, the match requirement has been waived for LEOs and Military/Vets for as long as I can remember.

But, military folks still had to be members of an affiliated club. Now, we can use our Military ID as proof of our "club". Vets can use the VFW or American Legion (or others). LEOs using similar organizations also is new.

Well, got it all cleaned up Saturday, looks fairly good. Nice tight muzzle, the barrel is a 1944, 4 groove.

It was grease, not Cosmoline, so, I spent Saturday morning using Acetone to degrease it.

I bought 8 different model 03 and 03-a3's a few years ago from the CMP. All but one had a brand new barrel on them. Good deal for the money. They do make great shooters.
