Iron sights on a mini-14

After shooting my mini-14 this weekend I am interested in improving the iron sights. The
stock sights are OK, but I would like a better set for these tired old eyes. Anyone got
any recommendations (please don't say buy an AR)?

I think there is an article in the new American Rifleman about new Minis coming with US military type sights. Not sure if you can buy them from Ruger and swap out your original set but its worth looking into.

I'll have to check those threads out later. I know there are quite a few things you can do to Mini 14s to squeeze some better accuarcy and performance out of them.

When I had my Mini-14, I replaced the rear sights with an target version made by Millet. Not sure if they manufacturer it any more though as this was over 10 years ago.
