"I was wrong" - says Gabriel Gomez in Globe Article

Before I knew what they were, I busted the balls of two sailors about giving the Marines a ride when deploying. Turns out they are ST6 members and weren't too keen on my little joke. I would have suffered the beating of my life were it not for their friend ushering me away.

You only do that once. Once.

I knew 2 guys who were in the Navy and never handled a gun at all until they got on a ship and were given a 'how to ' set of instructions. That was all. I don't remember when they were in.

During Vietnam, my Air Force friends were given a .22 and they fired it about a dozen times. That was all.

I can't imagine that has changed much for the Air Force. I always wondered though if the Coast Guard got more firearms training than the Navy.
