Heres the deal I put a S&W 1911 on order at one of the more reputable higher volume stores in MA, paid the whole amount up front. When I paid, I asked how long I should expect to wait and was just told that he couldn't tell me right now and that the order would go in a couple days later. Seeing it was a saturday I figured it would make sense that new orders would go in at the beginning of the new week.
So two weeks passes and I decide I will give them a call to make sure the order went in and maybe I could get an ETA. When I called all I got was yes they had ordered it and couldn't say for sure when it would come in, and that they would call when it did.
After 3+ weeks I had to pick up some ammo and a few other things so i decided I will just go out of my way to this store and maybe I can get a better answer face to face. When i get there I ask if it is in and the gentleman asks if i had gotten a phone call and I said no but I was hoping maybe it was in and they had not got around to calling me, He checked the new orders in and said that it was not in yet, he didn't know when it would be in and that they would call.
It is now 5+ weeks later and I still have heard nothing.
So My questions are...
1) Am I expecting too much that a fairly basic model from S&W (not Perform center or anything) should really not take this long?
2)Is it rude for me to call or stop by again and ask a little more assertively when it is coming in?
3) What amount of time do you think would be appropriate for this?
Sorry for the short novel but I think we all know how hard it is to wait for a firearm especially when you don't know how long it is going to take to receive it. I would at least like an answer (even it is on back order and we will get it as soon as possible), not to mention I have almost $1k sitting in someone else's bank account.
Please tell me to relax and this is normal if I am being a moron for asking these questions.
