Great photos. Harold Edgerton at MIT pioneered high-speed photography and his "apple" remains the classic of the genre, at least with respect to firearms:

Looks like most of those shots were done with .177, or maybe .22 airgun pellets. Cool nonetheless. The playing card one is definitely a .22lr though.
