Do you have more info on that? Passed on individuals for ownership, or transfer?

Individual criminals; not transfers. Both were posted here. I have the article links saved as I am going to use the info in more letters, not that I have gotten anything more than the occasional canned response.

As usual they are only going after the law abiding owners and shops.[banghead]

Ok, I had seen those I didn't know if there was a couple of "Clean" people trying to become the test case and being ignored.

I'm actually kind of enjoying this.
I have never seen a Judge stroke out on the bench before , but I expect it after the question is put to her ."Explain the current MA. gun laws to me."

Since the AG is legislating by FAQ, I assume written letter should suffice? IANAL

Legislation by FAQ. Great title for a Kafka novel.

What is legal and illegal regarding semi-auto rifles in MA?
If you don't know the answer, you are definitely guilty and the punishment should be doubly severe!

“I see, these books are probably law books, and it is an essential part of the justice dispensed here that you should be condemned not only in innocence but also in ignorance.” - The Trial, Franz Kafka

The first one doesn't count because it's a federal case. The second one they probably stacked up a bunch of other crap against those guys and simply didn't bother with an AWB charge.

  • "Any semiautomatic rifle that cannot accept a detachable magazine that holds more than five rounds of ammunition;"
So since my Garand uses a clip that holds 8 rounds, and not a magazine, can I assume that my rifle (mfg. 1943) is NOT an assault rifle?

The garand has a fixed, 8 shot internal magazine that is loaded with clips.

Legal? Not legal? Who knows, only the Queen.

It is legal, not AW. Period.

given Maura Healey's actions, is that really that absurd of a question?

Exactly.

Yes, it was a serious question. I'm not a lawyer and the current law, and her recent interpretation of it, is completely F'd up. So I want to know if my 18 y/o son can take that rifle to the range without the risk of committing a felony.

I suppose I could have, and will, write a letter to the queen and ask her.

You're going to ask her if a rifle exempted in the AWB by model name is exempted by the AWB?

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people on this site jump to make someone feel stupid for asking a question.

Where exactly is that listed? I've looked and I can't find it.

I've looked here:

Yeah it is pretty absurd, that everyone is running around shitting themselves with fear over a bunch of (mostly) unenforceable crap.

I disagree, Mike. Just want to be sure my son is safe taking it to the range.

We've gotten to a point where any rifle with a gas system is illegal until proven otherwise.
The Q's on the thread. God almighty.

Don't recall who's the member that started the "my head is going to explode the next time.."

I feel his pain now. JC.

If you believe the gun is illegal then even simply possessing it is legally perilous. There's no magical immunity in her edict for keeping it locked up in the the house vs taking it to the range and using it like a normal human would...

If I believed this was any more than just annoying BS for gun owners, my shit would have been ALL removed from MA on the 20th.

I'm going to ask her if my car is still okay to drive on highways in light of the new AWB.

We can laugh at that joke now.
In the future maybe not so much .
If she declares the only cars legal to buy in MA. are Priuses and Chevy Volts and you have a year to get rid of your gas guzzler, who pray tell will stop her?
According to our Speakers and Governor she has the authority to make up any law she sees fit.
