Flash hider question

Why not pin a brake in place (while I'm not expert in this field, I understand a dedicated brake is kosher is pinned) and use a full grip. Seems like a grip is way more useful than an A2 birdcage (or any muzzle device for that matter).

You are exactly right. A flash hider gets most of us exactly ZERO. The real loss is the loss of the threaded barrel which allows you to swap out muzzle brakes as technology and priorities change.

Am I wrong in that you could always uninstall the barrel (to keep from momentarily violating the law), get the weld ground off, replace with a new brake (assuming new technology or whatever), then reinstall the barrel? I've thought about this in regards to doing a pinned/welded setup on a 14.5" in NH.
