So adam and I are on vacation to the NRA annual meeting in Pittsburgh. We'll be sharing photos and info on all the gunnie goodness, but I'll start with the entertaining day we had getting here.

Not caring to be sexually assaulted, we left MA early this morning to drive down here. We packed the carry guns away for the first portion of the trip and set out. Upon entering New York state the heavens opened up. We drove on in the rain until we hit Pennsylvania. When we pulled over to get "dressed" the sky cleared and the weather was beautiful for the rest of the day. I take it as a sign. [wink]

Of course it was also at that time that we started passing signs for "gentlemen's" clubs every 500 feet. When we turned off the main highway we started passing the clubs themselves..Adam and I aren't sure how they can actually support that many of them! We did notice a high concentration of dollar stores too...they apparently have a thing against large bills in that region. I don't know what the proliferation of clubs is a sign of, other than that I've found the perfect home for Blitz.

Halfway through the club region we crossed "Operator Road". At that point we knew we'd found a new home for a number of people here.

After checking into the hotel, we went down to dinner. Where the local art students decided to go for drinks tonight. Oh. My. The girls were sporting hairdos from scifi movies and were competing to see who could wear the least amount of clothing without being actually solicited on the street. The guys....we saw a mohawk paired with skin tight red jeans, a kilt with a 1940s hat, and a 40 yr old man in a renfaire type get up - essentially a dress with embroidered bits and striped hose. Sorry about not taking pics...it was just too much.

More tomorrow when we get to the convention hall. [grin]

free america likes titties, fireworks, porn and booze. [smile]

[laugh] true.

We're all set on #1, #2 we covet jealously, #3 is called the internet. #4 is made of fail here. We tried to stop and get some good scotch on the way into town and couldn't find any. The stores in town all closed at 7:30!! Score one for MA. [angry]

It took me a while to understand that you had decided to drive rather than fly, because I haven't flown in.. Something like 20 years.

Thanks for the hearty chuckle, and I'd like to add that we expect pics next time you visit the hotel bar. Of the hairdos, of course.. :p

Thank you. :)

You'll find that a significant number of those adult facilities are within a relatively short drive from the NY border to the North and the NJ border to the east. It's called "interstate commerce" <grin>

I see that Blitz is already there. [grin]

I am so jealous of you folks. I Dad with you or guarding the store?

Day 1

First, a disclaimer because of what happened in the last thread like this. If you think I'm a pathetic newb with wide eyes because I'm not reporting about the private parties, please keep it to yourself. I make no claim to know anyone cool, to be an operator, or be your personal shopper. I'm just sharing a view of this event through my eyes. That's it.

I will let the guys know right now that I have no booth babe pictures yet. [crying] We saw two heading into the building but we didn't encounter them inside today. If we find them, we will be sure to share the eye candy with you.

What we did see today:

Half of the main hall

The Lehigh Defense booth had some nifty things. Adam relieved them of 950 JDJ cartridge. The case and the bullet are both machined out of solid pieces of brass. This is what that monster looks like propping up a Glock 66.

P4290291.jpg

They also had bullets witih a new design. The concept is that when the bullet spins, this shape acts like a drill bit to dig in for maximum penetration on big game and avoid having the bullet skip off of shoulder blades and the like.

P4290223.jpg

They were also showcasing two versions of an expanding bullet design. One for personal defense that opens up the petals very nicely and one for hunting where the petals are desgined to open up and then separate. The core of the bullet continues on, while each individual petal goes off on its own trajectory for maximum damage. Neat video of these in action and impresssive photos from some big game hunts.

Majestic Arms of New York had a kit for all the Ruger .22 owners. You install this, and then the gun field strips by unscrewing a single allen screw which is located on the top of the frame where the bolt stop is on stock guns. If you hate the Ruger take down, this is very cool. Acme will be stocking these. The newest version of the kit also disables the mag disconnect on the Mark III's and improves the trigger takeup.

This is the RONI. You put your Glock or certain other handguns in it and ta da. Instant carbine.

Invasion of the New Jersey carry purses.

An AR-15 pistol. Because they amuse me. Adam is amused by the baby free float tube.

P4290218.jpg

Derringers.

P4290216.jpg

More and more vendors targeting the women...

P4290217.jpg

Camo lingerie. Insert mental booth babe of your choosing.

P4290222.jpg

ISSC .22 pistols. On the approved list now. They're also sending .22 AR style rifles to MA dealers soon. Acme will be stocking these.

P4290219.jpg

A knife! With lights! From Real Avid. Well, this is the giant knife, but they sell usable one too. [wink]
Designed for hunters trying to gut a deer they took at dusk. Looked like a good product.

P4290221.jpg

TAG Safari had nice safari style clothes and shooting shirts..these are some of their ladies' designs. I also loved the Nile crocodile rifle slings. Awesome.

P4290229.jpg

Ithaca was there with some nice target grade 1911s that none of us Ma**h***s can buy.

P4290232.jpg

They also had a 20 gauge with a ladies' stock. It's not just cut down, it's entirely redesigned. You can see the change in the angle of the grip (ladies' gun on the bottom)...they've also adjusted cant and other aspects a bit after a year of research and testing. This thing fits me GREAT. Highly recommend. Also, they loan one to any women's instructional events they can. Good people.

P4290233.jpg

The Dillon booth...and not a booth babe in sight....VERY confusing.

P4290235.jpg

The absolutely adorable girl at the Crossbreed booth. Probably 15 and the owner's daugther so behave ya'll. She was kind enough to model Crossbreed's concealed carry Messenger Bag. Nice bag, crossbreed quality, and I think safely unisex for anyone looking for an offbody option.

P4290241.jpg

A Stag Arms AR. Lots of left-handed models. This one had nifty optics and the iron sights offset at 45 degrees.

P4290248.jpg

A Crimsontrace Laser + Light thing on a Glock

P4290255.jpg

In action:

P4290254.jpg

Hogue had neat toys. AR & AK grips with tool kits or batteries inside, replacement grips and backsrtraps for a number of models with neat textures and designs.

Cool Muzzle Brakes at Alexander Arms

P4290262.jpg

We picked up new seat covers for the Acme truck in a Advantage Grassland Max4 camo. Nice seat covers, cool guy who escaped MA and moved to Montana.

P4290263.jpg

Candace at the Glock booth had cool earrings.

P4290267.jpg

Required R. Lee Emery picture. (They have "action figures" of him.)

P4290266.jpg

Nice guys from North Carolina who came up with that graphic and were selling tshirts, hats & stickers. We got shirts and bumper stickers.

The folks at Duracoat have a good sense of humor:

Spotted in the wild:

The TACTICAL Range Box with the Inventor. Range box with a built in rest and several inserts for holding an AR (as shown) or other gun so you can work on or adjust it at the range.

P4290282.jpg

The Mother of All Gun Safes. It's 10 ft. tall. It costs 20k. I can't reach the keypad. We want to build our next house around THIS.

Nifty jewelry.

More tomorrow. We're off to buy booze.

G. Gordon Liddy would say that you have great "testicular fortitude" for telling it like it is. [smile]

Thanks for the great pictures.
