I have an FID and was wondering if it was legal for me to purchase an ar-15 style rifle in Massachusetts. Specifically a Stag-15 model 4. it has a fixed stock and i can get one without a bayonet lug and with a 10 round mag.

ok well two more years before i can get an LTC in the meantime then any good semi auto 5.56 riffles that arn't illegal for me to buy to shoot with in the mean time?
see post 3.
i'm not sure if you can buy and M&P 15-22....
but you CAN buy a Ruger 10/22... if you are hell bent on a .223 / 5.56, your options are very limited... i'd go with a tacticool .22LR in the mean time...
you could go SKS ? Or save up your money for the next 2 years. Im sure your wants or needs will change. Heck you might even move to a free state.
Personally I would have a trusted family member purchase one and have them agree to sell it to you when you get your LTC B or A
Dude, buying a firearm for someone other than yourself is a violation of federal law. Instead of doing what you said, the OP should just find a friend or family member to buy an AR, let him use it at the range, then buy his own when he gets his LTC.
+1
i did buy a mini-14 for a relative. with FULL intention on giving it as a gift. that is perfectly fine.
looks like this one
we haven't shot it yet... plant to in the spring.
edit: other than finding some 10rd mags, it's a sweet rifle... it came with one box mag, 5rd cap.

whats a good price for a mini-14?
a few people have mentioned sks and m1 gerands and so now i have 2 more stupid questions about those how much is a reasonable price for them and for the SKS who makes a good one?
i don't think i meet their qualifications because there isn't a cmp member range near me also i'm alittle nervus about buying a rifle i have never seen i'm most of the rifles are good but there is that 1 in a thousand. There are many different variations of SKSs, as far as a good price I'd say ~$350. For Garands http://www.thecmp.org/m1garand.htm.
