Very recently I bought an AK, its is in terrific shape but I am not crazy about the cheap synthetic looking furniture it came equiped with. Its my understanding that it usually is just slapped on the weapon to ensure its
922R compliance (redirect me if I am wrong).
I have a friend who is an extremely talented woodworker. He routinely makes all kinds of fascinating items from exotic wood etc. If we were able to fashion and make some custom furniture and apply it to my AK would I still be within the 922R regulations? Technically, it would be American made!? Anyone care to offer counsel or opinion?
