we have a Chinese sks with a dragunov stock with a removable magazine and wanted to know what we'd have to do to convert it back so an a person with a FID can own it.

If the rifle is a D or M model (one of the ones that can take AK magazines), AFAIK there isn't any way to convert it to take the standard 10-round fixed magazine.

OTOH, if it's currently set up for "duckbill" magazines, all that needs to be done is to field strip it, and reinstall the standard fixed mag while putting the rifle back together.

Push in the button thingy behind the trigger guard. Takes some force. The trigger/hammer assy will drop out, and you can re-install the fixed 10-round mag.
