One of my first managers was a Vietnam Vet and had a lot of demons. He pretty much held the same opinion as you and wasn't afraid to voice those opinions at the top of lungs, for all to hear in various bars we frequented. It wasn't a popular opinion among the other vets who heard him and and it caused more than a few white knuckle situations that thankfully never escalated beyond shouting matches between a few drunks.

On the occassions he went deep into the bottle, the stories he told were truly the stuff of night mares. And I always felt guilty for hearing them after a night out with him. Obviously he had stuff he felt he needed to unburden himself with but I never felt I was worthy of hearing the these stories not being a vet myself....

Not yet. They had their announcement video, but downvotes are still available for all to see.
At least on most videos. They are rolling it out gradually. Once they flip the switch, only content creators will see the downvotes.

However, it does seem they have disabled the dislike count for comments.
