Happy New Year All,

I am refinishing an old .22 rifle which is not worth much except to me. I have tried cold bluing (did not like the results) and looked into black oxide and Parkerizing with mixed feelings about the durability. I really would like to do it myself but I do not waste my time or money trying to do something that cannot be done at home.

As such I have a couple of questions for those experienced builders and restorers :

1 - Has anyone had any experience with black oxide?
I visited the caswell forum and seemed like many people had issues with
it coming off.

2 - Can anyone suggest a good hot bluing pro? I prefer local. I do not need
collectors quality just a decent job I can get for a reasonable price.

3 - Anyone have any experience with the Caswell Black Oxide kit? Does it
protect the parts it is applied to?

The barrel has been bead blasted and just needs final prep before finishing.

Thanks
