Some groups oppose such measures, however, including Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership.
"We are not a fan of permits," says the JPFO's communications coordinator, Charles Heller. "What we respect are places like Arizona, Vermont, Alaska, parts of Wyoming, where you don't need a permit. You just carry a gun."
I alwyas get nervous when politicians want to 'help' us.
This. And I suspect that this could backfire badly. It's like the first step towards a federally issued gun license.
While in an ideal world we don't want more federal involvement in states rights, we need to not step on our own principaled dicks and withhold support for this. Being trapped in the NE by the statist communist regimes in NJ and NY we need a path out...
Exactly!!Crackpot - I'm with you on this concern. However one of the premises of the bill of rights is that the supremacy clause can be invoked by the federal government when states INFRINGE on citizen's rights.
This is an appropriate use of a federal government.
Exactly!!
States don't have rights. People have rights. States have powers. When a state's power infringe on human rights as protected by the Bill of Rights, the role of the federal government is to ensure that the rights of the people are not abridged. This is one of the few things it is supposed to do!

What's the fed law (if it even exists) that extends drivers' licenses reciprocity across state lines? One can drive from Maine to California and everywhere in between and there's no "reciprocity" nonsense to consider.

Yeah, you go Republicans, and use candy to convince your voters that you support freedom, yet the very law itself "allowing" concealed carry reciprocity, legitimizes all gun laws good and bad.Go Republicans !

Shall not be infringed is enough for me.
